00:33But because there was never a precise chemical tool to study it, its exact role stayed a mystery.
00:38This new compound, called VA-is083859,
00:43finally lets scientists watch what happens when they switch Tiaok-1 off inside living neurons.
00:49And in a twist researchers didn't expect, a second compound they created did the opposite,
00:54activating the entire Tiaok protein family at once,
00:58giving them a rare two-way probe to study the pathway from both directions.
