00:13forest, officials said on Wednesday. The fire broke out on Sunday in southeast Minahasa,
00:19spreading rapidly through dry vegetation amid strong winds. Local forestry chief Rainier
00:26Dondokambe said the fires were mainly caused by human negligence during land clearing activities
00:31or natural factors linked to severe drought conditions.
01:05Firefighters, forestry personnel, and local authorities have since launched efforts to contain the
01:10blaze, deploying water trucks, hoses, and manual firefighting equipment to tackle hotspots in
01:17difficult terrain. Aerial monitoring on Wednesday showed that much of the fire had been brought
01:22under control, although some hotspots remained active and efforts to fully extinguish the
01:27blaze were continuing.
