00:00The Truth Recognition Chamber of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, JEP,
00:04charged 27 former members of the FARC for their alleged responsibility in crimes not
00:10amnestiable offenses, such as attacks and massacres, as well as acts of sexual and gender-based violence.
00:15Among those charged are four members of the last secretariat of that guerrilla group,
00:20Rodrigo Londoño, known as Timochenko, Jaime Alberto Parra, alias Mauricio Jaramillo,
00:25Julián Gallo, also known as Carlos Antonio Lozada,
00:27and Milton de Jesús Toncel, alias Joaquín Gómez.
00:30This is the first indictment made by the JEP in the 10 cases,
00:34which investigates non-amnestiable crimes committed by the former FARC during the conflict,
00:39and case 11, which is related to gender violence, sexual violence and reproductive violence.
00:44The indictment focuses on crimes attributed to the southern and eastern blocs of the former FARC.
00:49The investigation brings together 2,436 victims of crimes collected in 76 reports from organizations
00:56of victims sent to the JEP regarding violent events in 15 departments.
01:00Based on that information, the JEP defined three major criminal patterns,
01:04crimes committed for social and territorial control,
01:07crimes committed in the course of hostilities and crimes in urban contexts.
01:11Among the acts for which the 27 former members were called to acknowledge responsibility
01:16Among the attacks by the former FARC is the bombing of the El Nogal Club in Bogotá on February 7.
01:21in 2003, when men from that armed group installed a car bomb in front of the place.
01:25loaded with 200 kilos of explosives, whose detonation left 36 people dead and 198 injured.
01:33Added to this are the attacks on the late former vice president Germán Vargas Lleras, the attack
01:38with rockets to the Casa de Nariño on August 7, 2002 during the inauguration of Álvaro Uribe Vélez
01:43and the assassination of the conservative leader Álvaro Gómez Hurtado on November 2, 1995.
01:49Regarding this case, although his family has maintained a different theory about the crime,
01:53The JEP found sufficient evidence and arguments to attribute responsibility to the FARC.
01:58There is also the case of the horse bomb used in the municipality of Chita, Boyacá,
02:02an attack carried out by the former FARC on September 10, 2003 that left eight dead
02:07The decision also addresses acts of violence. The number of deaths includes a minor.
02:12sexual and gender-based. According to the JEP, in some areas where the FARC exercised control
02:16In this territorial context, sexual violence would have been used as a form of punishment against women.
02:21Peasant women who, according to the guerrillas, violated their rules or defied their authority. The facts
02:26The events attributed to the 27 former guerrillas occurred in the eastern mountain range, the Orinoquía region, and the
02:31Amazonia. The southern and eastern blocs of the FARC operated there for years with their fronts,
02:37considered as the functional equivalents of army units in a historically
02:42forgotten by the State, as the indictment points out.
