00:00I took a ride, I took a ride, I wouldn't go there without you.
00:06Let's take a ride, we'll take a ride, I wouldn't leave here without you.
00:11My name's Melvin Ben, I'm the Managing Director of Festival Republic.
00:17Muse because they're the biggest band in the world.
00:19My Chemical Romance because they deserve to be there, they paid their dues.
00:24And The Strokes because it's their second home.
00:30BDI because Liam has never played the NME radio on stage.
00:37He's played the main stage rather a lot.
00:40Too many DJs, I think headlining the NME radio on stage.
00:46Again, massive for the festival.
00:49My last one would be Frank Turner.
00:52Again, because Frank Turner is a legend at Reading Festival and Beats Festival.
01:00It started as a jazz festival in the old Deer Park in Richmond in the late 60s.
01:08Moved to Windsor as a jazz festival, moved to Windsor.
01:11The very far sighted Reading Council at the time asked the organisers to bring that festival to Reading.
01:19The organisers did that and didn't tell the council at the time that they were changing it from a jazz
01:28festival to a rock festival.
01:29So Reading got a rock festival but had asked for a jazz festival.
01:33And it started there, that was 1971.
01:37The public transport links to both Reading and Leeds are phenomenal.
01:41Travel on public transport, the trains and the buses are just fantastic.
01:48Oh, at Reading, Green Campsite.
01:53Well, I mean, you know, the comedy tent really.
01:56I could almost go as far as saying the silent disco.
01:59I'm not quite sure whether the silent disco counts as non-music or music.
02:04No, my favourite at both Reading and Leeds is actually the vegetarian whole food veggie burger stall.
02:15Best practical advice is to go for it.
02:18I mean, that is what Reading Festival is about.
02:22There will be a new one coming along and that's really what will be my dream booking.
02:27The one that we don't know yet.
