00:15All together we are the Walkmen.
00:17We did the recording over the course of the last year.
00:20We started about a year ago from right now.
00:22And we did the first half in New York, in Tribeca,
00:25this place called Gigantic Studios,
00:26where we did our last record, You and Me.
00:29And in about, like, March,
00:32we switched it up and went down to Dallas, Texas,
00:35and finished everything off down there until June.
00:39I mean, we started writing it right when we finished You and Me,
00:42like, before we even toured off it, probably.
00:45So, the first half really just comes from just like a continuation.
00:50I mean, for us it was just, we kept going.
00:52But we sort of felt like we hit our stride later on
00:56when I guess we recorded a lot more of the sort of rock songs on it
01:01and kind of the raw-er sounding stuff.
01:03Well, we turned the reverb down a lot on everything across the board,
01:06so maybe that sort of makes it a lot,
01:10dries it up and makes it sound more percussive.
01:14That would be my only guess.
01:15We don't have as much.
01:16We used to have all these, like, gourds and shakers and all this crap
01:18that we don't have anymore.
01:20Well, we come up with the titles for the record at the last minute.
01:23It's the last thing we do.
01:24I think it's even after we came up with all the tracks,
01:28we all sort of battled over which tracks were going to be on it.
01:31And it was just a suggestion out of like five or six that were possibilities.
01:36And it just sort of clicked.
01:38We all liked it because I guess our recent fond memories of being there
01:42and we had gone there twice while we wrote the record
01:47and it was sort of like, it was just a good experience both times for both of us,
01:52for all of us.
01:52So, I mean, I guess it just made sense for some reason for us.
01:56Our record label had just signed and told us we should never come over here again
01:59because we'll never do well over here in all honesty.
02:03And he said he didn't want to put our record out over here because of that.
02:06So, try this car out.
02:07I was just at my wife's grandmother's 90th birthday.
02:11She's really sick and her uncle was there and we started getting the talking
02:17and apparently the singer from the Black Keys just bought his house from him in Nashville.
02:22And he had to move out.
02:24It was kind of this awful scene.
02:25So, I'm looking forward to talking to him about it.
