00:10Recreation is about winning races, beating opponents, wrecking them out, catching serious
00:18drift, serious air time.
00:24What we're here to do is really explain the play aspect of recreation, that's multiplayer,
00:30split screen, selecting any vehicle on any track.
00:38Recreation has been part of the MotorStone series since the first game and it's a deliberate
00:41play on words.
00:45Not only is it a free play mode, it's also where you'll find our suite of online play options
00:50as well.
00:51You can jump in there and play races that you set up, you create yourself, you can jump
00:56into recreation and play with your friends.
00:58You can also jump online and play against 15 other competitors and also combine those
01:03as well.
01:07The reason we wanted to do this is to make this mode far more accessible than it has been
01:10before.
01:11Online gaming is always seen as the domain of the hardcore and to a large extent it is and
01:16we still have those options.
01:21the main player is to make sure it's fun for every player no matter what your skill level
01:26was.
01:27Now we help this first of all by trying to match the people of similar skill levels together,
01:31but then the next step is to give the players their own goals and objectives to work towards.
01:37So it doesn't really matter if you jump into a race and don't come first, because you're
01:40working towards your own goals.
01:42One of those big goals is betting, where you get to wager on another player.
01:45So rather than just go into a race thinking I have to win this in order to be successful,
01:50you don't, you have to beat the player that you bet on.
01:55In Recreation we have challenges, medals, accolades.
02:08By simply racing, by experiencing the online component of the game, by having fun, by being
02:13entertained, you will unlock new rewards.
02:16However, we do offer additional depth for the players that really want to tailor those
02:20rewards to the vehicles they want to customize.
02:22So if you particularly like a big rig or a monster truck, and you really want that shiny
02:27set of wheels you've seen in vehicle customization, but you haven't quite unlocked it yet, then
02:31you need to focus on that particular vehicle.
02:33And so you'll spend your time for the next 5, 10, 20 races, however long you think you
02:38need to unlock those components with that vehicle, and really tailor the unlock mechanism
02:43to suit you as a player.
02:49Recreation features its own currency, poker chips, and what these enable you to do is rank
02:54up.
02:55This is effectively your experience points.
02:57So as you race throughout Recreation, you're gaining chips, gaining experience and therefore
03:02ranking up.
03:06With those ranks you get to unlock new vehicles, new body shells, new parts, stickers, vinyls, etc.
03:27Loads of content to personalize your vehicles and make yourself look unique online.
03:32But then there's also the next layer we're ranking up and that's unlocking perks.
03:38Perks are a big thing because they change the way the game plays.
03:41We have three distinct types of perk.
03:45We have combat perks.
03:49We have handling perks.
03:53And we have boost perks.
03:58And you can choose one perk from each of those three categories to play online with.
04:04The perks really allow you to tailor the way that you play the game.
04:08So you can have a real influence on what you get out of it.
04:15There's over a hundred hours of raw gameplay in this mode.
04:18Now with it being online, your mileage varies depending on how much fun you're having with
04:22your friends.
04:23So this could go on indefinitely.
04:31There are also things that we term medals.
04:34And what medals are are effectively badges of honor.
04:38And they're another element of the recreation experience that allows the player to tailor their unlocks and their rewards to
04:45match their play style.
04:45Each medal has a particular criteria to meet.
04:49Ranging from something simple like beat 10 opponents, beat 20 opponents.
04:53And these will roll over from race to race.
05:00Some of the medals are master medals.
05:02And these are extremely long term challenges.
05:05These are things that experienced players will continue to keep aiming towards long after the game has been released.
05:14With such rich content to be unlocked.
05:17With such rich rewards in terms of vehicle components.
05:20New liveries.
05:24New stickers.
05:25New customisation options.
05:27As well as the increased chip rewards for helping you rank up that much quicker.
