00:14Hello, Hannah is on the face of it, a sort of middle-class, happy, rosy life, nice, open person.
00:22The film delves into actually challenging your perceptions.
00:26So you see someone, you make a snap decision, invariably you're wrong.
00:30And the same with Joseph, Peter Mullins' character.
00:32They have a sort of mutual, I suppose, damage and they find each other and they love each other and
00:38they help each other and sort of heal each other in a way.
00:41Are you all right in there?
00:44Are you hiding from somebody?
00:50Can I move this rail?
00:53Okay.
00:54I never felt any pressure. All I felt was the duty to just make the film that I wanted to
00:58make.
00:59I had a few set ideas about how I wanted to film aesthetically and I had a few rules that
01:06I think were good.
01:08And then I just went about making it. I don't think you've got time.
01:11You just have to be confident and know the film that you want to make and not be guessing it.
01:16As Paddy says, having all that stuff in the back of your mind, it really informs or helps what you
01:20do.
01:21And also, it was so beautifully written and Hannah was such a whole character.
01:26You didn't really need to go much beyond what was on the page anyway.
01:29She was such a beautiful, multifaceted person anyway.
01:32I believe you've brought him here to me to help him find his way.
01:36He seems lost, Lord.
01:39Give him the strength to find a way.
01:43And let him know that whatever is troubling him, he can confide in you and ask for your forgiveness.
01:50I think I'd rather keep doing more directing, you know.
01:55The only difficulty of an actor is, you know, you're always waiting for other people to give you something that
01:59you could work with.
02:00And, you know, it's been a bit hit and miss.
02:03But I think that, you know, I think that when it's coming from you and you're conducting it, it's an
02:10easier place for me to be on the outside looking in, really, you know.
02:14The fact that Paddy's been an actor and understands what it's like, because people assume that you're sort of invincible
02:20and brave.
02:21And I don't think I know any actors who feel like that on set.
02:25And Paddy knows what it's like to feel vulnerable.
02:27So his background, he knew to make you feel incredibly safe.
02:32You're so handsome, Basil.
02:34I see you are.
02:35But this will finish it off nicely.
02:36Sorry.
02:40No, I'm sorry.
02:42Go ahead.
02:43Go ahead, go ahead.
02:46I really have a tough time saying what audiences can expect, because I just say to audiences, don't expect anything
02:52from it.
02:53You know, just go and take your souls in.
02:55Don't sit there, you know.
02:57You know, is it a date movie or is it dark or is it...
03:00Just go and watch a film about human beings and see how you feel at the end of it.
03:04Will you help me?
03:05It's all the way we say.
