00:48Cause I'm taking all my chances I'm the master of my dreams
00:55I hope, I know
01:01When the road is calling home And my heart is full of hope
01:07When the whiskey hits my soul I'm gonna roll, roll, roll
01:14Through the highs and lows Empty pockets singing songs
01:20When the whiskey hits my soul I'm gonna roll, roll, roll
01:26I'm gonna roll, roll, roll, roll
01:47When the whiskey hits my soul I'm gonna roll, roll, roll, roll

03:54We're going to have a good time
03:56We're going to have a party
03:59The opening ceremony was Glasgow opening its front door
04:03The closing is a giant house party
04:06Where everyone squeezes in
04:08For one last celebration
04:18To restoran

04:39Note again
04:43We're going to have a great time
04:44And now
04:44And now
06:45Glasgow, Gallus, Glasgow, full of grace, dear green place.
06:53Glasgow, never a city to blow your own trumpet.
06:59But always a city that steps in at the last minute and offer a welcome to the athletes
07:05of the many nations of the commonwealth.
07:09But is Glasgow, if not a place of welcome to the citizens of the world?
07:16We all hold the keys to Glasgow, in the city of the word, the bird that never flew.
07:26We welcome the risk-taker, the refugee.
07:30We take to the streets of our democracy.
07:33We meet our lovers under the healing man's umbrella and exchange a kiss.
07:44This one's for yous.
07:49May you leave with the spirit of Glasgow's good grace, bottled and kept safe.
07:55And in India, in four years' time, may the Glasgow genie come out the bottle in Amdavad, in Gujarat, to
08:04wish you well.
08:06Gone yourselves, gujarat, laldee.
08:15For time is a net fall, falling through the hoop of the net.
08:20Time is a discus squirreling.
08:23Time is a jack rolling down the green.
08:27Before you know where you are, it will have come round again.
08:31And many beautiful battens will be out and passing their colours, twirling.
08:43And what else is a baton, but a child in its basket?
08:52The lowering of the Commonwealth flag, the speeches and a special award.
09:13We'll see the presenting of the David Dixon Award, named after the former Honorary Secretary of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
09:19It's awarded to one athlete at every edition of the Games, based on fair play, performance and overall contribution.
09:34MUSIC PLAYS
09:53The opening of Glasgow 2026, and what an altogether brilliant 11 days it has been.
10:09The 11 days of excellence, the 11 days of inspiration, the 11 days that have reminded us of the unique
10:16power of sport to unite people, communities and nations.
10:21When Glasgow stepped forward to host these games, we did so with conviction.
10:27We believed the Commonwealth mattered. We believed the games mattered.
10:32Above all, we believed that together we could once again welcome the world.
10:38Hundreds of medals, records broken, moments of triumph and thousands of new friendships later, we know we were right.
10:56Tonight, I stand here filled with pride. Pride in every athlete who inspired us.
11:03Pride in every volunteer whose smile became the heartbeat of these games.
11:16Pride in our workforce, partners, sporting federations, sponsors and supporters across Glasgow, Scotland and the Commonwealth.
11:26Together, we have achieved something extraordinary and I am especially proud of Glasgow.
11:34Once again, this city has shown the world who we are.
11:49Brave and unstoppable, creative, welcoming and kind.
11:55A city where people make Glasgow.
12:05As these games come to an end, venues will empty, lights that illuminated our skyline will dim, but what we
12:14have created here will endure.
12:16To every athlete, official, volunteer, spectator and partner, thank you.
12:23You have created an unforgettable games.
12:28And now, from Glasgow to Amdavad, two great river cities.
12:41We wish you every success as you prepare to welcome the world for the centenary games.
12:47We know you will create a celebration that is spectacular, inspiring and uniquely yours.
12:56And as we say in parts of Scotland, to everyone here tonight, sláinte váh, to your good health, until we
13:04meet again.
13:10Please welcome the President of Commonwealth Sport, Dr. Donald Rukare.
13:24A good evening to all of you.
13:29Your Royal Highnesses, the First Minister of Scotland, the Lord Provost of Glasgow,
13:37distinguished guests, athletes, friends, and to everyone in this great city of Glasgow.
13:47Thank you, Glasgow, for a brilliant Commonwealth Games.
14:00Every host writes its own chapter.
14:04Glasgow has been one of courage, bravery, friendship, and outstanding innovation.
14:14A true bridge to a bright and united future of our Commonwealth.
14:19Tonight, we celebrate an extraordinary 11 days of competition, friendship, and shared purpose.
14:30215 medal events, a first-ever Games medal for Rwanda, a first gold.
14:42A first gold for Dominica.
14:51The largest ever para-sport program in our history.
15:05And the first medal of the Games was awarded to a para-sport in the sport of para-powerlifting.
15:18I am incredibly proud of all of you and of all your achievements.
15:24To every athlete from our 74 nations and territories, a very big thank you.
15:32You have truly inspired us through your excellence, determination, and respect for one another.
15:40While medals are won in competition, the greatest legacy of these Games is the unity, friendship, and inspiration that you
15:52have shared across our Commonwealth family.
16:02One outstanding athlete who has truly inspired us is the winner of our David Dixon Award this evening.
16:13At every Games, an athlete who has delivered outstanding performance and demonstrated fair play and teamwork is chosen.
16:24For this Scottish athlete winning the women's T-54 1,500 meters in a Commonwealth Games record time was remarkable
16:45enough.
16:45To then see the race to then see the race rerun following a crash in the first lap, respond with
16:55grace, dignity, and unwavering respect for the process,
17:00and above all, return to win the gold again, securing an even faster Games record performance was extraordinary.
17:17She exemplified integrity, resilience, while inspiring her teammates, competitors, and fans alike.
17:29She truly embodies the very best of Commonwealth sports.
17:34I am honoured to announce the winner of the David Dixon Award, Melanie Woods.
18:33I've moved and I've kept on moving, proved the point is that I needed proving, lost friends and I needed
18:43losing, found others on my way, oh and I've tried.
18:51And I've kept on trying, stolen dreams, yes there's no denying, I've dropped me far, with conscience flying, somewhere in
19:02the wind, oh let me tell you that I love you, that I'm thinking about you all the time, Calendonia
19:14you're calling me, now I'm going home.
19:19If I should become a stranger, know that it would make me run inside, Calendonia's been everything I've ever had.
19:52There was the body, learning the language of the soul.
19:59India did not discover sport as spectacle, India knew it first as spirit.
20:13Old wisdom did not fade, it changed form, it ran faster, leapt higher, struck cleaner, rose stronger.
20:21This is a young heartbeat, this is a nation in motion, not waiting for tomorrow building it, not asking for
20:30the stage becoming it.
20:33100 years, one enduring spirit passed from generation to generation.
20:41And from this pulse rises Gujarat, Amdavad.
20:48Amdavad.
20:49A city of stone and sunlight of river and rhythm, hearts that host and streets that know how to celebrate
20:57the world.
20:59When the world arrives, Amdavad will not simply welcome it, Amdavad will embrace it.
21:08Because the games are not only about victory, they are about meeting.
21:16Not just medal against medal, but hand to hand, breath to breath, story to story.
21:27Many nations, many colors, many songs, one shared sky.
21:36So, bring us the speed, bring us the strength, bring us the courage, bring us your impossible dreams.
21:49The next chapter is not waiting in the distance, it is lighting the sky.
21:56From the land where sport is spirit, from the city that welcomes tradition, from the people who believe the world
22:05is one family.
22:07Come, play, rise, belong.
