A team of modders is porting the entirety of The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind into Elden Ring. YouTuber InfernoPlus gives an update on the massive project and the one technical issue that could stop them in their tracks.

00:00Earlier this year, a group of modders came together to do the unthinkable. Port Bethesda's
00:05Morrowind into FromSoftware's Elden Ring. Essentially, the project looks to be an Elden
00:10Ring conversion mod that lets you see the Elder Scrolls Morrowind in a new third-person light,
00:15and we've just gotten our first update on the bonkers effort. Modder and YouTuber Inferno Plus
00:21posted an update video this week to let everyone know how the mod was progressing now that other
00:26volunteer modders had jumped on to help. It's never going to be exactly 100% accurate,
00:32but as it currently stands, it does everything it should, Inferno Plus continued, before stating that
00:38the text-to-speech voices are temporary, the team just needs placeholder dialogue to make sure
00:43everything's working as intended. The one area that's causing the modder anxiety is its navmeshes,
00:48navigation meshes, which is basically a view of the world that the player never sees but helps
00:54NPCs with pathfinding. As Inferno Plus says, AI just doesn't work without navmeshes.
01:01Then on the navmesh side, we have not really made much progress, he said. That issue is currently our
01:07biggest roadblock, and in some ways it's probably the only thing holding us back from finishing this
01:12project in the long term. It's the only thing on the project that I don't know what the solution will
01:16look like and there is a chance that we just don't solve it. Hopefully it'll be fine. I think it's
01:23possible, but that is the one thing that worries me.
01:26that's the one thing that you can do.
01:26We'll see you next time.
01:26Bye.
