Shawn Johnson East is sharing a hopeful update after her 2-year-old son, Barrett “Bear” East, underwent surgery, revealing that while the procedure was successful, his recovery from anesthesia has been one of the toughest experiences the family has faced.
The Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast updated fans through her Instagram Stories on July 30, explaining that Bear recently underwent his second ear tube procedure and also had his adenoids removed. According to Johnson, the surgery was medically necessary and went as planned, but the hours immediately afterward proved especially challenging.
Johnson described Bear’s emergence from anesthesia as “pretty rough,” noting that it was the most difficult recovery she had witnessed following one of his procedures.
