00:03Connor. Yes. We hear you love languages and accents. Other than Russian, what's your favorite?
00:10Ooh, I'm kind of always switching between languages. Right now, I really want to learn
00:16Spanish. I'm from West Texas, so I've always heard Spanish. And living in LA, there's Spanish
00:21everywhere. So it doesn't feel very, like, exotic to me because I've heard it my whole life. But
00:28I think it's sexy. Spanish is muy sexy. Yes, I think Colombian Spanish, I think, is the
00:36sexiest language there is. I like the traditional Spain Spanish. Spain Spanish. Vamos a la playa
00:41de Barcelona. Barcelona. Con Javier Baedén. Yeah. In Vanela Vicruz. Ana de Armas. Ana de Armas.
00:50She's Cuban, right? She's Cuban. Okay. Pretty girl. Okay. This year marks 20 years since
00:55Brokeback Mountain. Are there any MM romance movies, shows, or books that have really stuck
01:00with you, either growing up or recently? Well, I love Brokeback Mountain. It was one of the first
01:04things that you told me. Yeah. Yeah. I love, um, Keith Ledger plays Ennis. I still think it's
01:10his best work. I think that was one of the first pivotal ones when you have two leading
01:14men, um, take on, you know, gay cowboys. It's pretty bold. But then, you know, you have Call
01:20Me By Your Name, um, Moonlight, I think with Barry Jenkins saying, bringing the art house
01:25to the hood is what he said. That was already just a beautiful juxtaposition. And then having,
01:32you know, he said he wanted to redefine masculinity with that movie, which I thought was so cool.
01:36Yeah. Call Me By Your Name, I think was like pretty revolutionary. Yeah. Yeah. I was in high
01:41school at that time. And I remember that being the first thing, um, that felt like it was really
01:46a part of the cultural zeitgeist. Um, and it also handled like, it also handled queer stories
01:52in a really cool way where it was so under the surface and it made it so human, you know,
01:59um, which I think also was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking these people in
02:04such a specific time and place and, um, like letting them explore love. Right. What does
02:10smut mean to you? I'm going to try to make an acronym. Sexy. This is going to be in relation
02:19to, um, into, uh, Ember & Ice, um, Sexy, Magic, um, Universe,
02:31T, T, T, T, T, T, T, T, T, T, T, T, T.
02:36Tombaht llegue the tongue. I
02:40have no idea. What did I say? Sexy, Magic, universe.
02:44Universe, um, Titillating, yeah.
02:49yeah we'll do that titillating oh you very publicly shot your shot for night wing
02:54uh which was extremely fun to watch have you been a dc fan and what is it like to see
03:00fans
03:01instantly rally behind you especially the ones that say you have the face the talent and the
03:05butt i will be completely honest i when i saw like some fan art of you as night wing i
03:12was like
03:12blown away whoa like i i mean you never know if that's going to come to fruition or not but
03:18i see like someone did you in the comic book style i was like i see it right away wow
03:24yeah i would i
03:25would love to play him i love dc i love um i loved all like comic books that were true
03:34to the source
03:35material um and i think you know there are a lot of good filmmakers who like bring their own style
03:42to these you know beloved um um comics that i think it would be really great to work with them
03:49you know i'm not fully set on nightwing you know i'm open to other things um did you always want
03:55to be in like did is superheroes no always something that's been like i absolutely not it's just it's
04:03when really good filmmaker it's it's filmmaker driven so when like a guy like james gunn
04:08or matt reeves you know comes to comics it i think that's what draws me um and and i heard
04:16james gunn
04:17is doing the the teen titans i know there's yeah but yeah james gunn he's in love with you true
04:24or
04:24false hudson is more like ilia in real life and connor is more like shane i think me and you
04:29are both
04:30like rose and i'm like svetlana i just said me and you are both like rose but i'm just i'm
04:37just
04:37parting ways that's so svetlana for you to say um i don't know i mean maybe i do feel like
04:45ilia i
04:45don't know i think that um i i'm i'm too sensitive or outwardly sensitive or don't have a lot of
04:52shame
04:52around emotion to be ilia i could be a little cocky like ilia yeah but beyond that it's like i
04:58think
04:59shane and ilia sort of share us you know a soulfulness that's kind of buried under all these
05:05you know walls and kind of um masks but i think i think underneath that what we both relate with
05:12both of them is you know the the heart and and their soul after wrapping heated rivalry you two
05:19got matching tattoos that say sex sales and if true how did that happen um i did i have a
05:26reason
05:26for coming up to vancouver i just want to come see yeah come hang out am i not good enough
05:30come on yeah
05:31i just i don't know why for a second i was like i have something to do up there i
05:35have nothing to do
05:36in vancouver i was there so yeah i just went up to see um i just came up to see
05:42you we knew we wanted
05:43to get matching tattoos i hadn't gotten a tattoo in forever um and we were just shuffling through
05:49ideas and yeah i think you came up with sex but like we were both pitching ideas and then like
05:54one person would like them the other person wouldn't and then when you said sex sales i was like oh
05:59we were sold that's the first idea you've had that's good i think it's honestly my most well
06:03done tattoo as well so that feels good the front of my shin pull in here zoom in
06:10true or false you ate a pound of beef of ground beef a day while filming heated rivalry
06:17true um connor told me what his routine was and after i saw him in person
06:21um i asked him how he got to that size i thought he was taking illicit substances he wasn't he
06:28does
06:28it super clean sorry i mentioned illicit substances um but i have nothing to hide bring it on but he
06:35was so just like so i was like what are you eating freak i was like i'm eating
06:44and he just couldn't speak and he just kept doing that and i was like i think that means ground
06:49beef um you're like that level of capability is what i need and then connor was actually the person
06:55who put me onto fiber because if you need to eat the protein you want to get you know ilia
07:01cheeks
07:02um and chests you need so much fiber just so your stomach doesn't shut down and you go into cardiac
07:09arrest and you get carried out from your your little workout on a stretcher with some you know
07:14pumped up pecs and a shut down you look you look good digestive system it's really unfortunate if
07:19it ends that way yeah yeah i actually um i'm gonna one up this true or false i actually think
07:25that
07:25we ate more than a pound of beef yeah because a pound of beef only has i think 84 grams
07:30of protein
07:31and you need a solid 200 if you're going through size and shape so sometimes i can eat two pounds
07:37of
07:37ground beef a day plus like 10 eggs yeah and so many salads i was having so much salad because
07:42by
07:43the end i got like gained 10 pounds so like when i started shooting i was like and by the
07:47end i was
07:48like 10 pounds heavier and it's because of yeah yeah you i mean you're very inspiring i'm glad that
07:53we had each other because it would have been really hard to be motivated if you know we were going
07:58back
07:58to our 12 hour days and then the gym and then like going back to a residence like alone it's
08:02really
08:02it's nice that i got to be like hi son let's go to gym and we would go from a
08:0911 hour day skating
08:10lesson and connor would go let's do legs and i and i looked him he's a madman that's how he
08:16has a butt
08:16he'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go legs now and i was like what are
08:22you
08:22saying i okay i knew i had a responsibility to the people he's america's ass and i i take that
08:32very seriously romance readers are famously passionate about book adaptations did you feel
08:37any pressure being bringing a beloved story to life and how did you approach making the characters
08:41your own it's good i think to go into a project accepting that you know people might be disappointed
08:49especially with something like a book where everyone already has preconceived notions they've
08:53vision they've envisioned these characters they've drawn these characters they've gotten tattoos of these
08:57characters like the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be disappointed
09:03all you can do is is read the material as much as you possibly can yeah and um and respect
09:12it show the
09:13respect show the dedication and just hope that people you know connect with it and love it and see
09:18that enthusiasm i think we both had that level of whether you want to call it nihilism or not
09:23like people might just hate this people might hate your casting or they might hate my casting
09:28i'm not going to expect anything more and uh i'm just going to do the best i can but you
09:34have really
09:35no metric of if people are going to be warm to your your take i really think at the end
09:40of the day all
09:40you can do is be really intentional give it a hundred and fifty percent yeah just go for it you
09:47know
09:47yeah and luckily for us this worked out really freaking well hudson we have heard rumors about a
09:57very serious multi-step korean skincare routine can you break it down for us it's not that lengthy yeah
10:03i always made fun of you for it too because i like honestly i'm just kind of jealous because you
10:07have
10:07really good skin um but i was like yeah your skin routine and then it's actually not that long it's
10:13not
10:13that long it's okay i'm gonna tell you in the morning i use water to cleanse my face warm water
10:20and then i put on a glow toner but it's pretty dry it's not like i don't like when people
10:26have like
10:26dewy like if i see someone it looks like they just wore a face mask i'm like why are you
10:30out right now
10:31like go go wipe that off and then come talk to me because i won't right now um and then
10:36so my toner and
10:36then i'll put on um a serum and then sunscreen and then sometimes instead of a serum i put on
10:43a moisturizer and then my pm routine is an oil cleanser you know to get out these blackheads to
10:50get the the gunk out um and then i'll either use like a cerave normal ass cleanser or i'll use
10:57like
10:57a poor shrinking cleanser that's their new that's their new slogan survey normal ass cleanser
11:05i think that is i yeah i also and then like a poor shrink or a poor shrinking cleanser if
11:10that's my
11:10goal and then the same thing toner serum and then either a retinol or a salicylic acid and then i
11:16go to
11:17fucking sleep so i think everyone in the studio agrees that was a lot well i will also say i
11:24mean
11:25it makes sense you have flawless skin so and then when i take it off it just falls apart yeah
11:31he unhooks
11:33the clip back here in the back that keeps it all up connor yes story yes do you have a
11:40favorite
11:40spicy scene from heated rivalry and a favorite from ember and ice what makes those stand out for
11:44you my favorite spicy scene from ember and ice is actually a scene where dane um is with two
11:50former lovers cassandra and elijah yep
11:58i need you to i need you to be here with me okay um dane has an interaction with uh
12:06two of his former
12:06lovers um after having been with finn for some time and uh yeah not to spoil but he he ends
12:15up realizing
12:15that what what really works for him isn't working for him anymore and it's kind of this moment of
12:21identity loss and you know what what pleases me isn't pleasing me the same i think that's really cool
12:28because it's also it's because it's cool because it's like sexy and spicy but it also is really
12:33revealing of the character and the connection and where he's at you know um and i think it's funny i
12:38think i remember dane saying something about um he's like he's like and then the next thing i did was
12:44i
12:44just had to come up with uh an excuse and then he's like he's like my friends i have bad
12:49news
12:50i have a lot from ember and ice but one is the lake scene where we kind of go in
12:56together and you
12:57kind of coax out of me without spoiling too much i think that one's just you know a lot of
13:02times like
13:02the intimacy before intimacy i think it has more of a charge in a way that one really got me
13:09um frothing
13:10at the mouth and heated rivalry favorite intimate scene there's one that was really fun to film do
13:17you remember filming the stair step scene when we're like kissing against the glass and our lips never
13:22come apart me and you were like do people do this do people like i know it's always a fun
13:27balance right
13:28of like when you're filming um separate from like the audio space when you're filming it's like how much
13:35of it is fun tv and then how much of it is like is like true sex because at the
13:42end of the day you
13:42know you do have in real life people do have those those like movie moments where you're like you know
13:47like yeah yeah and then everyone on set was like oh yeah no we i've done that and then connor
13:52and i
13:53were like oh oh we usually fold our clothes place them down then go both chain naked and go sex
14:00now
14:00sex now i'm robot plug me in true or false hudson's roommates once kept a mooning tally of how many
14:10times he flashed them do you know how many times i know that you i've yeah i remember this yep
14:16it's true
14:17it was one roommate um and i i mooned him 31 times what was his reaction when you mooned him
14:25was he like
14:28hudson her poor name was chelsea i i i've talked with her and chelsea has been like you can say
14:33my
14:33name and i was like so i've since talked about this since double consent uh double consent um and uh
14:39poor chelsea would just go i think her main reaction was like oh hudson and it made me so happy
14:50where where is chelsea now and i i developed different techniques over the years um she's
14:56chilling she's got a cat that's like hanging off her walls um but i would go and i'd do like
15:01a
15:01drive-by i had all these different techniques and then she would bring like other you know
15:06romantic interests home and then they're like what's this tally up on the board and they're like
15:10oh that's how many times hudson my roommate has mooned me and they were like would you just like kind
15:16of butt crack it or would you full so i had one where i would get pants low like i
15:22would de-pants
15:22and she would be unassuming like maybe on her phone on the couch and i would run by and jump
15:28in
15:28the air so i was like a like like a like a literal moon a literal moon but in fast
15:33motion sometimes i
15:35would just do the like oh drop something before we leave bend and i'm right there gotcha oh god
15:41the airborne moon is crazy yes no they they got very athletic but we need to clarify if you were
15:47gonna moon someone yeah a close friend chelsea is still my make it make it known that this is okay
15:52yep she got a do not moon people you don't know in places it's not okay hudson as an asian
16:01actor
16:01leading such a hugely popular queer romance what kind of stories or roles are you excited for
16:06more people to see you in going forward hmm yeah i i wanna i wanna represent my my wajins out
16:15there
16:15you know um i've been declared do you know about this i'm declared the i think princess or prince of
16:23wajia me i mean i i sign off on it okay i think you he's the final stamp off guy
16:30for this so uh yeah
16:32i'm the i'm the ambassador of wajia as a fully as a completely caucasian yes but as as this um
16:42little wajian i am i hope to just do roles that aren't always charged with you know i'm happy to
16:51do roles that are you know race has something to to play in there but also i just want to
16:55be an actor
16:57and a lot of the times i just want to play parts where it's like
17:00i'm i'm just there and we don't need to go on my backstory or whatever it's just
17:04you know i'm playing with any other uh non
17:09person of color would play as well you know you're a person you want to be treated i'm a person
17:14love it baby on both heated rivalry and ember and ice you worked with an intimacy coordinator
17:20um why do you think that role matters on projects like this was there anything about the process
17:24that you think would surprise people wow i mean i think it's so um yeah that's a yeah that question
17:32is i mean it's so important i mean you you literally can't do things without that role um the thing
17:41that
17:41i think would shock people about the role of intimacy coordinating is it's not just about and this is what
17:48i
17:48learned from chayla originally and then also jamie doing this it's not just about the actual safety
17:54the boundaries monitoring what's going on what that looks like making sure everyone's okay there's also
18:00actually a conjunction of an artistic edge where you are like jamie with this you know was also the
18:08voice that was reminding us this is how long it's been since this happened you know you need to i
18:14need
18:14to hear that shiver or that i need to hear those um i need to hear that feeling through your
18:20wings i
18:21need to see that come about i need to feel that pleasure in this way so it's not always technical
18:26even though that's what i feel like is brought up a lot there is also an artistic sensibility to that
18:31job and that really promotes that conversation absolutely bring in the first ginger ale this is so fun
18:40we have canada dry we have schwep's we have can you can someone give me a rundown of the brands
18:46nope you're gonna try it and we're gonna go i don't i've only named two from memory well how
18:50about this i'll hold it so we don't we don't give away anything
18:58yep that's my hudson that's my hudson
19:03that's not canada dry this is some shitty american ginger ale this is like schwep's or like
19:11um yeah that's my guess it you said it's not canada dry why is it not canada dry yeah canada
19:17dry's got more ginger in it and more bubble in it it's just subtle ginger yeah go ahead and should
19:23be deep blindfold you god we got you where is this imported from this this is this is no no
19:36way it
19:37says from frisco texas nope i don't i don't this is it changed it changed bring in ginger ale number
19:47two
19:47that is so embarrassing thank you so much this one was that one was canada dry what is this one
19:57um num num um num you're my baby drink more okay this is cough syrup this is
20:09this is yellow snow what is this a pissy pineapple but that's the brand hudson
20:17i have to guess the brand davai yeah this is schweps okay this one is schweps
20:29i am so happy that i'm not the one tasting these because if i was getting them wrong
20:34i'd feel like an idiot no i'm kidding
20:40stupid no you're not i mean they they really set you up give me another one do you have more
20:46bring me bring in how many more bring in the last one bring it to me
20:53oh this one's a hard one thank you
20:59oh
21:09that's um that's fever tree ginger um um beer
21:17hudson open what what flavor what there's a there's a secondary flavor
21:26do you want to smell test too you want to do like no it's just ginger no but do like
21:30an aromatics test
21:34go full som vibes do you smell that oh it's hard to it's hard to smell it's fucking ginger pear
21:43fucking it's ginger yeah i'm gonna be honest he would never be able to under you can't taste that
21:49flavor at all let's see what blood orange good job you can't taste that at all you put food coloring
21:55in you
21:56you didn't put no blood orange in there i will say i kind of like this one though that one's
22:00nice
22:01i like all of them but i guess the brand did i not you killed it when did you first
22:06realize you
22:07clicked and what are some of your favorite memories from working together um i would say
22:13our first face time outside of a chemistry read because at that point i was always shane he was always
22:17ilya but then when we first met over face time before we went to toronto um we had so many
22:26like
22:26so much overlap of movies we liked actors we liked um art we liked and similar approaches to how we
22:33you know like to perform um that i immediately knew i think we clicked there and i think that's
22:39saying a lot because i think some of our our interests can be pretty niche the fact that there is
22:44overlap yeah amazing yeah and favorite memories i would say all our laughs on set being in muskoka
22:53um was really beautiful there was a lot of like lounging around um you know it was just great my
23:00favorite memories of working with you are also the laughs what's what's like an inside joke that we just
23:06died over the whole time um we had a storm the set that was also with oh yeah i would
23:12always be like
23:13storm the set if we couldn't afford extras our idea was we would just like do like a cattle call
23:20we used to joke that like we um because we would have like airport scenes and stuff where there would
23:25be like you know for an airport you need like you need a bunch of people and we'd have like
23:29five people
23:30and i just imagined um i imagined jacob being like being like costume let's get up there and everyone's
23:37like taking off their mics and he's like storm the set opening the garage and just like opening it up
23:43to the public how does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement i can't i honestly still cannot
23:51believe that that was someone's takeaway from this you know i like i think i look a little too shabby
23:58i'm i'm in the process of gaining weight you know now yeah i was when you look you look freaking
24:03fantastic well bring it back to my spanish well muchas gracias de nada corazón de melón ah
24:08um yeah i people people like our bodies let's just be honest about it people you know i care about
24:21my
24:21health i care about my fitness as do you um honestly watching the show is making us work out
24:27even more yeah so what drew you to doing a fae romantic story and what was it about the script
24:33that hooked you for me it was exploring sensuality with with your voice you know that's the only
24:39tool you have and it kind of scared me a little bit and you know that there it was a
24:45really fun
24:46way to explore yourself it was fun it was actually fun and you know it's very demanding and it's well
24:51written i think in the booth the term winged hemingway came up you know fantastical heavy way
25:02because there was like war there's like this romance that's forbidden and it seems doomed uh in a lot of
25:16really rewarding the story just moves really well too um it was just written really well uh as someone
25:24who you know is not a big reader i think something like this would be really appealing to me um
25:30just
25:31the way it it cycles through the feelings it cycles through the years and point of view yeah yeah i
25:36just
25:36think it's really like almost physically well done why do you think mm romance resonates so strongly
25:42with women right now yeah we've we've both talked about this and kind of been intrigued by it um
25:50there's so many reasons there's so many reasons and then even just women you know there are straight
25:55women there are trans women there are um gay women like queer women it's it's um well that feels like
26:02a
26:02giant term to be like i know exactly why um you know there's like the element of you can live
26:09vicariously
26:09and you can feel safe um like with women this is just one opinion that i had never even considered
26:16or thought of um that i saw that i think you're alluding to which is if you are female um
26:21and you
26:22are you are taken out of the equation there's and you're you're there's a spectatorship to that
26:31there's like a there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety you know like especially women
26:38um historically being put into a box in a certain way especially when it comes to sex and pleasure
26:44it feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be lived out without um right female
26:51dynamic being yeah i i heard i heard someone online say a woman say that like when you see like
26:57a hetero
26:57um couple you know you default to like relating with or forced to sort of relate with the woman character
27:04um and then that comes with a lot of restriction and two and like imagination a lot of writers you
27:10know are writing very conventionally um which means a lot of outdated tropes um old archetypes
27:16and i think you know with getting to watch two men it's like they can kind of relate with this
27:21person in one moment they're empathetic to this person they're not forced into a box of here this
27:25is your person to relate with at the end of the day though we're both men i have no idea
27:31what it's like
27:31to be a woman um yeah and so y'all let us know yeah y'all tell us i think
27:38me because i would just be
27:41i'd be drinking i'd be somewhere i'd be like under a table yeah asleep naked but i will say you
27:48you're
27:49really freaking athletic and you're really strong and you know how to fight so if it came down to like
27:55a wrestling match between you and leather face freddy krueger i think you're taking the cake my boy
28:02i'm winning okay snack time me 100 yeah you have a little you have a tiny bit more reverence than
28:13i do um if something is overly serious i cannot help but laugh because i just become really like oh
28:20i
28:20become really aware of how do you do that kind of it's not that you left and now now i'm
28:27gonna leave
28:29connor will do the like the like it's like so serious he kind of gets a little take and then
28:34and i can't do his laugh do i do that do i do do i do a polly pocket hand

31:04fine i'm invested in heated rivalry not because of their giant bouncy bullets but because it's a true
31:12yearner i'm a sucker for a good romance the yearning is is the thing i think that's that's
31:17probably the sexiest part for people honestly you want to know how we got these bodies you're
31:21enough your ass gets fat despite all the memes i have enjoyed people seeing that physical intimacy
31:28isn't just spice on top of the romance but a vehicle to explore relationship dynamics and character and
31:34also physical and emotional intimacy are different but connected things jacob talks about this and that
31:39was one of the first things i think he brought to us um to try and explain his vision which
31:46was you
31:47know when you read the scripts when you read the pages it can sound very sex heavy but to know
31:51that
31:51the sex really is just the foundation of their relationship and how they connect um yeah i think that
31:59is i think that i think that's kind of you know for the first years of their life that's how
32:04they
32:04communicate that's where their relationship builds and you know that's not usually how sex is used
32:09in media yep meteor i need hudson williams to know that so many people imagine draw right and read
32:16about him getting pregnant including me is that crazy oh he knows and even comments on yeah mara
32:24key to rival updates pointing this out to me i know when i learned that about it's crazy i was
32:29like
