The aftermath of fishermen neglecting beach cleanliness with thrown-away fishing gear significantly impacts both wildlife and the environment. A small bird became ensnared by a fishing line in the Mdloti River today but was successfully rescued by several compassionate local residents who removed the hook. Thankfully, the bird sustained only minor injuries and was able to fly away independently. It is crucial for local anglers to be accountable for their waste, such as hooks and lines. Such incidents are entirely avoidable with proper care and consideration for nature. Witnessing the suffering of this vulnerable creature was heartbreaking, yet it will continue to thrive and fish in the river.
