02:30Amazing, he's got that nose clipper, still has a chain made his neck, I can't believe it, you shave your
02:36body to be as smooth as you possibly can, shave everything that's on show and then you've got a big
02:42speed bump right in there, golly, it's very interesting, but look at this, look at this finish, oh, 7100s, he
02:52missed the world record, am I getting a bit picky?
02:55Maybe a little bit, but I think he'll be looking back at that swim and he'll try and find where
03:00those 1700s are, the fact that he's so close to that world record, he's gunning for it.
03:06Well, he's got the Olympic rings on his forearm and he's going to have an Olympic gold medal round his
03:11neck if he keeps this up in Los Angeles fairly shortly, that was phenomenal, seems a lovely chap as well,
03:18I've never actually spoken to him, he does seem lovely, he's always smiling and very considerate of the other athletes,
03:24seems a lovely chap.
03:25I haven't met him personally, but I've heard the same thing, he seems to be very down to earth, great
03:30team player and you saw that there, pulling his teammate Ruud van Rennen onto podium together so that they could
03:39sing the national anthem and that's what you need with athletes, we have that air of arrogance about what we
03:44do in the pool,
03:45but it's the team player aspect that I think is really, really important for a lot of athletes, you've got
03:50young swimmers looking up to these role models to be encouraged and inspired and it's that athlete versus human and
03:57it's nice to see the human element come through when you see their personalities just being nice people.
04:01Well, it really is, you know, Rayl again, he's sharing the South African flag with his teammate, he won the
04:07bronze medal, Ruud van Rennen and those pitchers will be winging their way around South Africa, they should be a
04:13very proud nation, South Africans, that is an amazing swimmer, it's so close, my goodness me, so close to the
04:22world record, well, that will be for another day, I'm sure it will.
04:25Well, she's got a lot of hugs, isn't she, isn't she, lady? Lucky girl.
04:33Hannah Ryan is a little bit jealous, but...
04:36She don't say anything.
04:40And there's those medals, the Rulo's.
04:43Rulo, yes.
04:44There you go.
04:45Not Jason de Rulo, but a Rulo, which is a French word for curved triangular shape, the first Commonwealth medals
04:53to be designed.
04:54That are not circular, to represent the Glasgow Shield of, Coat of Arms.
05:02Well, they're lovely medals in there, I'm guessing that's his mum, he's got somebody on the phone, on the, on
05:07the live chat.
05:08Oh, it's great.
05:10It really is great.
05:12I'm guessing it's, uh, your old friend.
05:15Oh, it's wonderful moments, the sacrifice that family and loved ones make is, it's just quite extraordinary.
05:29I guess you had your family here when you won your gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, Hannah.
05:35I did, I think there was a slow-motion video camera of actually my dad bawling his eyes out.
05:41Slow motion, that's a funny thing to say.
05:43I know, because he had a stopwatch in his hand, because he was coach until I touched the wall, and
05:49then he became dad.
05:50And then he just, he got so emotional, and then going round the lap of honour, um, you could just
05:57see the tears in his eyes.
05:59So, yeah.
06:00It means the world, because, yes, it's the athlete who stands alone on the block, but the team behind you
06:04to get you to that point.
06:06The family, the friends, the teammates, coaches, support staff.
06:09There's a lot of work that goes in to get those results, and for the athletes to acknowledge it, to
06:15showcase who is involved, I think it's really nice.
06:19It's nice to have that acknowledgement, uh, given to those who, who deserve it.
06:24It really is, and there's, uh, South Africans everywhere in this crowd tonight.
06:28Very busy crowd, he's having his, uh, photo taken with everyone.
06:32Slight height difference, look at that.
06:34Wonderful to see.
06:36That's hilarious.
06:40It's a little bit, Mike.
06:41I'm not sure if it wasn't.
