00:00New details are emerging about the final hours of Mississippi teen Nolan Wells, but they are only
00:06deepening the mystery surrounding his death. According to a Mississippi Marine Resources
00:11report, witnesses told investigators the 18-year-old had been drinking heavily on the
00:164th of July before he disappeared on remote Horn Island. The same report says Wells chose to stay
00:23behind on the island with an unknown female when his friends returned to shore after they claimed
00:29their boat was taking on water. Now, newly released video appears to support part of that account.
00:35The footage shows the boat being towed away from Horn Island with seven of Wells' friends on board,
00:40but Nolan is nowhere to be seen. The woman referenced in the investigative report has
00:45since been identified by the Daily Mail as 19-year-old Katie McCormick. Her sister disputes
00:51the suggestion that Nolan stayed behind to be with her, saying McCormick believed he had returned to
00:56the Mainlands with his friends. Wells was found dead two days later wearing only blue swim trunks.
01:02An independent autopsy commissioned by the family raised additional questions after the pathologist
01:07noted red discoloration on the back of Wells' head and said he could not rule out a possible neck injury
01:14because key parts of the throat were not available for examination. Wells' parents say they still
