00:00The NBA never sleeps at a breaking news earlier today, Tom, that guess who is back to the Warriors.
00:08That's right. Draymond Green, one year, 27.7 million dollar deal.
00:14This, of course, coming to light because, well, LeBron's like, yeah, I'm not staying in the West and signing with
00:21Golden State.
00:22So Golden State's like, well, we got, you know, 20 some odd million laying around here.
00:26Why not give it to Draymond and bring him back?
00:29Because had LeBron actually signed, I don't know that we see Draymond Green back with any team, quite honestly, had
00:37he gone to the Warriors.
00:38But I guess if you're the Warriors, I mean, what is he, 36 years old?
00:43Yeah, you bring him back for that price point, right?
00:48I think so.
00:49You know, it's a it's an interesting story based on some of the reporting that we saw and some of
00:55the quotes I saw from Sham Sharani after that report, you know, a clip going around saying that the Warriors
01:01are content, knowing that they're not going to be in the title conversation in the West or in the title
01:09conversation overall in the NBA.
01:10And, you know, that is a very weird thing.
01:13And I think the Warriors are at a very weird point because we had reports earlier in the season about
01:17Steve Kerr, their head coach, potentially retiring.
01:20We know that they're all in the back nine of their career.
01:22And, you know, the dark days are ahead for the Warriors.
01:25And when Curry and Kerr and Draymond all leave, what are we going to be looking at that franchise that
01:31has been a mainstay of the NBA, you know, the face of the NBA and NBA playoffs for so long?
01:37Where are they going to be? So I see no issue with them bringing Draymond back.
01:40Why not? You have one last go at things with the trio that they still have there.
01:44But I see this as a very long season for the Warriors, despite the fact I still think that they
01:49are too publicly bet.
01:51I think there's good opportunities to pay them just because they're not a well-rounded team and they're not going
01:55to compete in the West.
01:57Well, they're not. But I'll tell you this.
01:59I mean, don't forget, he opted.
02:02He could have signed the twenty eight million dollar option.
02:05But he said, you know what? I'm going to decline it.
02:08Give you guys the opportunity to, you know, try and sign some guys or do something.
02:13But and that something was, of course, LeBron James.
02:16But now that he went to Philadelphia, can I tell you about I mean, you know, they've got still they've
02:23got some players.
02:24But Steph Curry ain't getting any younger. What is he, thirty eight?
02:27I mean, it's going to be thirty nine.
02:29I'll say this about Draymond. He may not be the player he was a decade ago, but he still played
02:35in sixty eight games this year, which I'll give him credit for.
02:39He was, you know, availability is is the best thing. Right.
02:42He played in sixty eight games for the Warriors this year and they got a pretty big they got a
02:48pretty big rookie there in Lindenborg who could use some mentoring here.
02:53Certainly on the defensive side. So I don't hate the signing. A lot of people are just done with him
02:58and his antics.
02:59But thirty six years old at this point, one year deal.
03:03I don't hate it, man. I really don't. I think they got maybe a little something left in the tank
03:08to at least make it interesting, if nothing else, in the West.
03:13You know, I like it from a team perspective and what he can bring, you know, to the younger players,
03:18I think is the most important thing that he should really be looking to impart on them.
03:23You know, whether or not they can actually make a push beyond the play in.
03:26I still have my doubts about it. I think the West is is pretty strong, but I think it's a
03:31good signing for the Warriors and where they are just in their timeline.
03:36Yeah, I agree. I mean, listen, it's all coming to an end there, but it won't truly be an end
03:41until Steph Curry hangs him up.
03:43But yeah, I think they're going to they're going to roll with that as long as possible.
