00:00Why is poetry dying these days?
00:04The more material your life will become, the less poetic it will remain.
00:09Because poetry is something delicate, fine, subtle.
00:12Instead, all that you want is the next great bear of shoes, the next mobile phone, the next car.
00:19All these are not poetic. All these are simply sthol, gross.
00:22And there is nothing to send you within.
00:24At least in India, you find that several of the great spiritual works have been composed in verse.
00:33It is the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
00:35Gita. What does Gita mean?
00:37Gita. The song divine.
00:39Because certain things can be expressed only poetically.
00:42The subtle aspects of truth can be brought out only poetically.
00:46Otherwise, words will fail.
00:47Therefore, if you want to just approach the truth, where is the way?
00:52Nobody becomes a billionaire poet.
00:55And if all your life is just about billions of dollars, then why will you value poetry?
01:01Poetry is valued only by those who are aiming at something within.
01:05And if the world becomes a place where the within is just ignored, rejected, even humiliated,
01:12then you will find that poetry is dying.
01:19Poetry is not so sorry.
