00:00I hear, wherever I go, that young people are often looking for something different from education.
00:05We've had a system built for too long around the university route,
00:09and it sends a message to some young people that they're some kind of second-class citizens.
00:14And it's just not right. They need an education system that works for them as well,
00:18that offers a path to all young people, that's balanced between academic and technical.
00:24And the evidence is, where countries have an education system, based on that principle of parity,
00:29Germany or the Netherlands, they have far fewer young people who end up not in education, employment or training.
00:36And I think it's long overdue that Britain makes this change,
00:41and in England particularly, we build an education system that has a path at 14 for all young people,
00:47and we strengthen that offer on technical education.
