00:05Today is the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge. It is the most significant infrastructure project in North America and
00:12certainly very, very critical for this region.
00:16The Gordie Howe Bridge is a new bridge with a larger span. It has more customs capacity.
00:24The key difference between the Gordie Howe Bridge and the Ambassador Bridge is that it has much easier access from
00:31the freeways in the Detroit area to Ontario, Canada.
00:36The relationship between Detroit and Windsor is so strong. I think it's one of the unique places in the United
00:44States where actually the region involves someone that is outside of the country.
00:51So we share a lot of things culturally. We share a lot of economics across the border. Literally billions of
01:00dollars come across this waterway every day.
01:05I would describe today as a day of relief because this has been a long time coming from when the
01:11agreement was first signed through all the hoops and hurdles that we've gone through in order to get this bridge
01:17finally built.
01:19And then the most recent delays, I think everyone in this region is just relieved that it is finally happening.
