00:29Snakes usually come near homes for three reasons.

00:33Shelter.
00:35Access.
00:36If rodents are around, snakes may follow them.
00:39If the yard has brush piles, wood stacked against the house, tall grass, gaps under sheds, or cluttered corners, snakes
00:46have places to hide.
00:48If doors, vents, screens, or foundation gaps are open, they may get inside.
00:53The safer fix is boring but effective.
00:56Seal openings.
00:57Store pet food indoors.

01:02Control rodents.
01:04Move wood piles away from the house.
01:06Clear brush and debris.
01:08Keep pets away from any snake you see.
01:11And never send an animal in to handle it.
01:13The CDC advises keeping a safe distance from wildlife, including snakes, and keeping pets away.
01:19That matters because a snake that feels threatened may bite again.
