In 1882, Jelena "Ilka" Markovic attempted to murder King Milan Obrenovic in the Saint Michael's Cathedral in Belgrade. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but soon afterwards, she was found dead in her cell. The official version of events was that she hanged herself with a towel by her bed; however, there are indications that suicide wasn't possible. Seven years later, on that same day, two bodies were found: fishermen discovered the body of a girl on the bank of the river Sava, and the body of Prince Milos's great-grandson was found in the woods of Topcider. It is revealed that both of these murders were connected to the assassination attempt in Saint Michael's Cathedral. After a long time, the case has been reopened. A failed lawyer and the chief of the Belgrade police are investigating her death-each for their own reasons-but in the case of Mrs. Markovic, the truth won't bring any good.
