Pokémon Legends: Arceus perfected shiny hunting with its iconic sparkle and sound cue. After Scarlet & Violet took a step back, will Pokémon Legends: Z-A do right by the shiny hunting community? Let's discuss the possibilities.

00:00There's one thing that's gnawing away at me about Pokemon Legends Z.A.
00:04How is the new title going to handle shiny Pokemon?
00:07Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu and Eevee were the first mainline games with wild Pokemon in the overworld,
00:13and shinies had sparkles constantly shimmering over them to indicate their rarity.
00:17Sword and Shield took a step back, but Legends Arceus had the best shiny features so far.
00:23Not just a sparkle appearing on shinies as they spawn, but a sound too.
00:29So even if you didn't see a shiny appear, you know there's one somewhere to track down.
00:34Beautiful. Immaculate. Everyone loved it.
00:36So you can imagine my confusion when Scarlet and Violet removed both the sparkles and audio cue altogether.
00:43So ever since Pokemon Legends Z.A.'s announcement, I've been wondering what its approach to shiny Pokemon indication will be.
00:50And we may have a hint.
00:51Over the last few days, fans have spotted something unusual in the back of one of the recent Japanese trailers.
00:56Is that a shiny Pidgey?
00:58It's still debatable if it is actually shiny, but there's certainly no Let's Go style sparkles visible,
01:04and we don't see it spawn, so it ultimately doesn't answer the question.
01:08But given that this is another Legends game,
01:10I'm still cautiously optimistic that Legends Z.A. will do right by the shiny hunting community,
01:15and give us back those Legends Arceus features we so loved.
