00:00The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is here, but if you're thinking of upgrading your year-old Z Fold 7,
00:05you really need to be looking at the Fold 8 Ultra, because that's the true sequel to last year's
00:10hit, Foldable. We've gone hands-on with the new tech, and the Fold 8 Ultra boasts the same size
00:15and shape as the Fold 7, instead of adopting the Fold 8's passport-like design. And while it offers
00:20a few of the expected enhancements, like a better chipset, it's the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for
00:25Galaxy we saw from this year's S26 lineup, there's a couple of key upgrades that I'm super excited for.
00:31The first is this phone delivers Samsung's first ever silicon carbide battery, which helps it hold
00:36a much larger 5000mAh capacity. I've not loved the Z Fold 7's battery life at times, and this update is
00:43the one I'm looking forward to most. Next up, cameras. The 12MP 3x telephoto lens is essentially
00:50unchanged from last year, disappointingly, but we're getting some improved HDR from the 200 megapixel
00:56main, and a boost from 12 to 50 megapixels for the ultra-wide snapper, so expect to be taking way
01:02better photos with this new phone. Finally, a new hinge is being added that promises to be easier to
01:07open, and allows for a more flat, open shape from the Fold 8 Ultra, which in combination with the
01:13inner display's anti-reflective coating, looks to make the crease practically disappear, or at least get
01:18close to vanishing. While I've loved my Fold 7, it hasn't been perfect, and after picking up the S26
01:23Ultra earlier this year, a few of my foldables issues have been majorly highlighted, so I'm glad
01:29that Samsung looks to be fixing a lot of my biggest gripes this time around. The only downside is the
01:34Fold 8 Ultra looks set to cost a little bit more than last year's phone, though with RAM crisis causing
01:39cost spikes all over the tech space, a price rise was expected, even if still disappointing. So, are you
01:45planning to grab the Z Fold 8 Ultra, or do you prefer the regular Fold 8, or the new Flip
01:498?
