00:00What do you have to say to critics who say you aren't doing enough to keep Jewish New Yorkers safe?
00:05First and foremost, I want to make clear that this is a city where we have no tolerance for hatred
00:10of any kind.
00:11The hatred of someone on the basis of their faith, their background, national identity.
00:15This is a city that not only has no tolerance for it, but would also hold anyone who is bound
00:18to be perpetrating it fully accountable.
00:21And I'll also just take a moment to address yesterday's horrific stabbings on the Upper West Side of an Asian
00:26male and a Jewish male.
00:27I am so relieved to hear that both of these victims are in stable condition, and I wish them a
00:34full and speedy recovery.
00:35And my heart breaks for them and their families, for what they have had to experience.
00:38I also want to thank the NYPD officers for their swift response and their apprehension of a suspect by the
00:44name of Raul Morales,
00:45who they believe to have perpetrated both of these two stabbings.
00:49At this point, the early NYPD investigations indicate that mental health may have been a role.
00:54They are also evaluating whether both of these constitute pink masks.
00:58And I'll continue to follow up and share with the New Yorkers any updates from that.
