00:10There's three generations living together in this house, including my grandparents,

01:40I make enough money with my social security and my pension.
01:43My credit has always been good. That's why I had to put the house on my name.
01:48My mortgage is about $2,000, and the expenses are like $1,000.
01:51Monica, she helped me out on the bills.
01:54Gas bill, electric bill, cable bill.
01:57But I do pay the mortgage.
01:58One of the biggest financial surprises was how high our heat bill is in the winter.
02:06The house is run on oil, so we can't have the heat on all the time.
02:11So sometimes you just have to put on a sweater and set the fireplace on and call it a day.
02:16My parents have always helped out with child care, picked up the girls from school,
02:22took them to doctor's appointments for me when I was stuck at work.
02:26Child care is so expensive. I have worked in daycares, so I know how expensive they could be.
02:32My mom saved a ton of money with my grandparents being able to help out.
02:36They're also getting older, so I'm able to help them as well.
02:39Both my girls drive, so there's some times where my mom has to go to a doctor's appointment.
02:44We look out for each other.
02:46Technology is where we could help them out a lot more.
02:49If they were on their own, they would be struggling.
02:54We just shop in bulk because the house is so huge.
02:57We have the space to put everything away.
03:00It's all about sharing, and that's how we save.
03:02We don't need to have double of everything.
03:04Sometimes I even share clothes with my grandpa.
03:07I'll walk in from work, and he's like, are you wearing my flannel?
03:09And I'm like, yeah.
03:11Even though we do have two kitchens, we eat together basically every single day for almost every single meal.
03:19One of the good benefits is that having my daughter here, she loves to cook, and she's a good cook.
03:25So sometimes she cooks, and we go downstairs and eat with them.
03:30One reason why I think it's coming back in style that people are starting to live with their extended family
03:35is the cost of living is just so high.
03:38Rent is very expensive.
03:40The majority of people my age are in school, so they have student loans that they have to pay off.
03:45They have their car payments and stuff like that.
03:48That's why I think it's beneficial to live with your parents or whoever as long as you can
03:53because the money that you would be putting towards rent could go towards a loan
03:57or go towards saving so that one day you could maybe buy an apartment.
04:03My grandpa's a great financial role model.
04:05He just teaches us how to spend our money more wisely
04:09and how to look into our purchases before we just buy things on a whim.
04:13They're very good kids.
04:15One day they're going to leave, but I'll be here for them until they're ready to go
04:19because I love them a lot.
04:21My grandparents have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
04:25It's almost weird if I wasn't with them.
04:28I love being around them.
