Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26-Day Hunger Strike After Government's Written Assurance

Climate activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike (Upvas Satyagraha) after receiving written assurances from the Indian government. Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh visited him, along with leaders from Ladakh's Apex Body. Around 65 MPs from various political parties also came and signed a pledge to raise the issue of the examination system in Parliament. Wangchuk stated that he had been negotiating for two days for written assurances before finally agreeing to end his fast. He also highlighted unresolved issues including relief for families of students who died by suicide and concerns about the NEET exam paper leak controversy. Wangchuk shared updates via video message and tweets, expressing that the government had given assurances to discuss examination system reforms.
