00:14The Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch has been a fiery one, literally, and now we're
00:20getting a peek behind the curtain from Rip Wheeler himself.
00:23That's right, actor Cole Hauser told the outlet Film Inside that everything had changed
00:28on the series without having Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan on set.
00:32That meant new writers, new directors, and new challenges.
00:36Quote, I enjoy a challenge.
00:38It certainly was a challenge.
00:39It was about putting my head down and working my ass off with what I had around me.
00:44We worked our asses off this year.
00:46Hauser added that a lot of the outside noise regarding the weight of the hit show wasn't
00:51really apparent to him at the time.
00:52That noise included Taylor Sheridan's reported clashes with Paramount's new leadership.
00:58The Wall Street Journal reported their new CEO and Trump ally, David Ellison, reportedly
01:03suggested a series tied to America 250.
01:06Sheridan allegedly pushed back because he didn't want to make a show too politically charged.
01:10Sources also claim Sheridan was unhappy with the budget of his Nicole Kidman-led spy series,
01:15Special Ops Lioness.
01:17As well as Kidman being cast in a separate Paramount series, Discretion, allegedly creating
01:22potential scheduling conflicts.
01:24Well, good luck telling the hardest working woman in Hollywood to slow down.
01:28In the end, Taylor Sheridan decided to leave Paramount and sign with NBC Universal instead
01:33in a deal where they reported $1 billion.
01:37But that's not all.
01:38Another bit of rumbling came from Ed Harris.
01:40At the premiere of the pickleball comedy, The Dink, the 75-year-old four-time Oscar nominee
01:46wasn't laughing.
01:47He told Variety that he begged his team to get him out of Dutton Ranch after a bad experience
01:52on season one, where he felt his character, Everett McKinney, was, quote, inconsequential.
01:57It went through this first season.
01:59I was ready to get me the out of here, to tell you.
02:02Why is that?
02:03Because I didn't feel I was being used.
02:07I didn't feel, uh, I felt a little bit less late.
02:11Harris also said he was pissed when the producers cut a scene where his character is supposed
02:16to sing in a bar.
02:17Harris plays a Vietnam vet slash veterinarian opposite Annette Bening.
02:22She has five Oscar noms.
02:23And you may remember Ed Harris's wife, Amy Madigan, picked up a little gold man earlier
02:28this year for her terrifying role in weapons.
02:31Dutton Ranch drama aside, her hubby Harris is expected to return for season two, which is
02:36currently being written, with the actor being, quote, kept in the loop, according to Variety.
02:41Notably, Harris did not name drop Sheridan, who still has an executive producer credit
02:45on the spinoff.
02:46We'll see how it all shakes out in season two of Dutton Ranch, set to begin filming in January.
