The Bettmerhorn is one of the best places to view the massive Grosser Aletsch glacier. This is the largest glacier in the Alps. The cable car takes you to the "Bettmergrat," a ridge 2647 m high. The actual summit of the Bettmerhorn is 500 m further north at an altitude of 2858 m.
The Bettmerhorn lies on the border of the UNESCO World Heritage Area "Jungfrau - Aletsch - Bietschhorn": a particularly high-alpine area that also includes the Eggishorn and the famous Jungfraujoch.
