00:09Earlier this morning, and I would say as well that throughout this time we have made a series
00:15of comprehensive and detailed proposals about how to modernize Kuzma, recognizing the transition
00:24that the U.S. is underway in the international and all its trading relationships, including
00:30with Canada and Mexico. I spoke with President Trump earlier this morning. We agreed to intensify
00:38negotiations in the coming weeks, and the team and myself look forward to doing that.
00:43As always, Canadians, governments, business, labor will stand together to build Canada strong
00:50and to have a trading relationship with our North American partners that benefits everyone.
01:00Look, we have a situation where the American tariffs, the 338 tariffs, will come into effect
01:06in 29 days, and we will look at all options in terms of how we would respond if they do
01:15come into effect. That's part of what we'll be discussing with Premiers. Also, in parallel,
01:21as I just said, that I'd spoken with the President, we agreed to intensify discussions. We'll begin
01:26that right away. And this is part of a negotiation. So the first objective is to get a comprehensive
01:34agreement. The benefits, obviously, of both countries that's consistent with Kuzma, Kuzma as it is and Kuzma
01:42as it will be. And we'll work towards that. But in parallel, when I say we will do whatever
01:50it takes and keep all options, obviously, it's a comprehensive point.
02:01Well, we're at the table. We'll be having those more intense discussions. And, you know, what the issue
02:08has been, for us, has been a comprehensive agreement. We understand the U.S. approach to strategic sectors,
02:18what they call strategic sectors. They are strategic sectors. But under their definition, 232 definitions,
02:23that's aluminum, that's forest products, that's steel, that's automobiles, pharmaceuticals, copper,
02:29others. But those first four being the most important for the Canadian economy. And that we don't want a partial
02:37agreement.
02:38We want something that addresses those sectors as well. So that there's a viable approach going forward,
02:44in our view.
02:51Provinces put booze back on the shelves. Will that help with these negotiations?
02:54It's part of a broader, the provinces individually took those decisions in response to a series of tariffs
03:03tariffs that were put in place, and also threats to our sovereignty. Those measures have been supported
03:12by provincial citizens. And they're supported, and it's indicative in terms of other consumption habits,
03:18if I can put it that way, of Canadians, where Canadians have traveled. Other things that are on the shelves,
03:23but aren't being purchased. The decision to change that first and foremost will be taken by the provinces themselves,
03:35each individually, and should only be taken, in my judgment, as part of an overall agreement.
03:42And that's what we'll work to accomplish.
