This is a story about music you were never meant to hear - for years I had wondered what has happened to the sons and daughters of the great Cuban musicians and singers. Then in 2002, I was approached by an Australian musician who asked if I was interested in new Cuban music.. he told me to go over the world map that hangs in my office and have a look at Cuba. Down the bottom, you will see a little town, Santiago de Cuba That's where it happens.

01:08These black kids in this town, they pull their influences from Jamaican dancehall beats

01:15This collision created an incredible sound that the only problem was nobody knew about

01:22I'm here to have a look and to make the world be aware of the music

01:33The people of San Diego de Cuba danced, sung, laughed and partied

01:38But at the same time they have been forgotten about

01:41And their town is falling apart

01:44And probably this is why it has formulated its own sound, its own voice
