Spider-Man: Brand New Day: Marvel apuesta por el Peter Parker más solo, humano y vulnerable de su historia
Transcripción
00:00I want to talk a little bit about, set up a little bit about where we find the characters in
00:03this one.
00:03It's interesting for you, Tom, playing, you know, Peter and Spider-Man are in much different places at the start
00:09of it.
00:09Spider-Man's thriving, Peter not so much.
00:12Can you talk a little bit about where we find them at the outset of this film?
00:16I think you really meet Peter Parker at the beginning of the darkest chapter of his life.
00:22You know, to me, the thing I love the most about the film is that it really represents,
00:26or it's a cautionary tale for the dangers of living a life alone and not having a community, not having
00:32friends.
00:33And a lesson that he learned from Andrew's character in the previous movie is that, you know,
00:38sometimes the bravest thing that you can do is ask for help.
00:40And he is actively ignoring that advice.
00:44And it is having a profound effect on his life as a human being.
00:48But then on the other side of that, as Spider-Man, he is thriving.
00:52You know, we're probably seeing the most truthful version of what Spider-Man means to New York City at the
00:57beginning of this movie.
00:58And the smashing of those two worlds is such a fun thing for us to play with.
01:03You know, standing on the world stage and beaming and doing all of this amazing stuff to then coming home
01:08to a pretty grubby New York apartment
01:11and, you know, nursing a headache to go to sleep, especially the scenes when we're watching them on Instagram.
01:18It was fun to investigate and think about, like, what their lives have been like without Peter.
01:23And also what, because, you know, for us, he never existed, you know, but clearly there's an effect of Peter
01:32on our lives.
01:32The fact that we are even friends and still kind of living in New York together must mean something to
01:39them, you know.
01:40And I think that, you know, in previous films, MJ was always the pessimist and it was Peter that was
01:49always the optimist.
01:51And so it's interesting to see that reversal, you know, now that he's alone, he's kind of adopted that negativity
01:59and she's adopted his positivity without even knowing it.
02:03Right.
02:04So there's clearly something still there.
02:07I mean, we always root for them and hope and, you know, because Peter, he's one of those characters you
02:13just love
02:14and you want them to make the right decisions.
02:16And I think to what you're saying in the last film, he was kind of, he was cautioned.
02:22He was warned by the other Spider-Men men.
02:26What could happen?
02:27And I think in many ways this film is grappling with those ideas and really confronting the things that they
02:35warned him about.
