00:04You're watching Your News' fact-checking show, The Cube.
00:07Billions tuned in this summer for a World Cup filled with dramatic matches, celebrations and some controversy.
00:13And alongside almost every major match, AI videos and out-of-context videos spread like white fire.
00:19With the tournament over, here's a look at some of the most viral.
00:23No player embodied fake AI images more than Norway's Erling Haaland.
00:27This video of him apparently scared of his own reflection racked up more than 43 million views in one post,
00:34spreading across the internet in multiple languages.
00:37But it's fake, the original video was posted to TikTok by Chinese comedian Ying Long with Haaland's face swapped in.
00:44Meanwhile, theories that Argentina rigged the competition took over the internet after it beat Egypt 3-2, with some users
00:51posting misleading images to support the claim.
00:53Take a look at this video, which gained 2 million views, claiming to show FIFA president Gianni Infantino looking anxious
01:00after Argentina's Lionel Messi missed a penalty in the Egypt game.
01:04Or this one, which claims to show Messi painting an injury in the match against Switzerland.
01:09But the first clip is from a different game, and the second is AI-generated, as you can see from
01:14his unnatural arm movements.
01:15And finally, hyper-sexualized, AI-generated videos and photos of fans have gathered millions of views online.
01:22They are based on the real concept of zooming in on fans during sport games, but with AI tools, anyone
01:28can make them.
01:29Often, these posts are linked to other sites where creators can make money through subscriptions, advertising, or affiliate links.
01:36There are dozens of these accounts profiting from the World Cup's popularity to drive personal monetization through AI-made generation
01:43tools.
01:44An after all, these posts are linked to another site to run out of the world.
01:46We'll see you next time.
01:48Bye.
01:48Like a warehouse.
01:48Bye.
