A touching video from Bartow showcases the rescue of a dehydrated owl, affectionately named Ko-Ko. The footage begins with the discoverer finding Ko-Ko injured on the roadside. Upon inspecting the owl's beak, the rescuer realizes the bird has sustained injuries to its head and face, prompting her to bring him to her home for care. "It was apparent Ko-Ko had a head and facial injury. We also observed that his stomach felt small, indicating potential dehydration," she explained. "Our first step was to hydrate him. Owls typically get hydration from the fluids of their prey, such as blood. Therefore, we prepared a blood fluid substitute by mixing half a cup of water with a teaspoon of sugar and boiling it." Reflecting on her journey as a homesteader, she shared, "During the COVID-19 quarantine, we decided to embrace homesteading, purchasing land in a rural area with a mission to cultivate for the future, ensuring we leave the world in a better state. Our focus is primarily on endangered livestock breeds, promoting awareness of these remarkable animals and their natural behaviors through conservation efforts."
