The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department said on Friday (July 17) that it had received confirmation from the Foreign Ministry that the 20-year-old man who was missing since he lost contact with his family had been detained by Hong Kong authorities for his alleged involvement in fraud.

00:20for his alleged involvement in two fraud cases in Hong Kong.

00:26and cannot meet with the family yet.
00:28On Thursday, the department held a press conference
00:31highlighting the plight of the man's father
00:33who was looking for him after losing contact with him.
00:40The family then received a call from someone claiming
00:43that the man had been arrested in Hong Kong as a suspected drug mule.
00:47The family told the media that they were unable to verify
00:50the claim with the authorities.
00:53Chong said now that they received information on the man's whereabouts,
00:56the family had heaved a sigh of relief.
00:59He said his office will provide legal aid if required by the family
