00:00Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the Trump administration is preparing to label more far
00:04left groups as foreign terrorist organizations. Rubio made the announcement during a meeting on
00:10political violence where he argued that far left extremism has been an overlooked driver of
00:15political terrorism for decades. He pointed to the assassination of Turning Point USA founder
00:20Charlie Kirk, the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, and the multiple attempts
00:24on President Trump's life as recent examples of the threat.
00:27Far left political terrorism is not a recent day modern novelty. It is not a fiction manufactured
00:34by conservative politicians. For most of the modern era, it was in fact the dominant form
00:39of political violence. Rubio noted that the State Department designated four violent far left
00:45extremist groups, including Germany's Antifa Ost and Greece's armed proletarian justice as foreign
00:51terrorist organizations last November. Additional designations are coming soon, though the secretary
00:56didn't identify which specific groups are being considered. Now, Rubio says the administration
01:01is determined to treat political violence as a national security threat, regardless of where it
01:05comes from.
