00:00I mean, I saw one outlet called this the heterosexual hunger games.
00:03Yeah.
00:04Oh, totally.
00:04And like, you know, as a gay man, I sort of did not relate to a lot of this, like,
00:08you know, backstabby kind of drama.
00:13Welcome back to Yap Session.
00:14This is the show where we get into all the water cooler moments that we're talking about here at Page
00:18Six.
00:18Last night was the ESPYs and Marcelo Hernandez, SNL cutie patootie, hosted the show and he kind of crushed it.
00:25Yeah, he did. I feel like he's the rising star of SNL and I'm happy that he's getting a lot
00:29of other opportunities.
00:30It's nice to see him out there making people laugh and cracking his jokes.
00:33Yeah, I love to see this monologue because I don't really watch SNL like that.
00:38So I'm like, this is my first time being introduced to his comedy.
00:42Well, he's Domingo.
00:43Yeah.
00:43And he was at Sabrina Carpenter's concert.
00:46That was his moment.
00:46That really is like what blew him up.
00:48Yeah, I would agree.
00:49I mean, I think anyone who watches SNL or knows of his work knows how talented he really is.
00:54But to see him get these opportunities, it's very clear he's on the rise of being the next SNL comedian
01:00it boy.
01:01And he's cute.
01:01He's such a cutie.
01:03He's a short king.
01:04Lauren said she saw him in the city.
01:05I did.
01:06I saw him in a bar once and it was very crowded and he said, excuse me.
01:09Excuse me.
01:11I know.
01:12He was with his girlfriend using her hands.
01:13It was sweet.
01:14Rubbing elbows.
01:15No, yeah, they were leaving.
01:16I just got there.
01:17Well, he was so funny.
01:18He got a little backlash for this Tiger Woods joke he made.
01:21You know, Tiger Woods, of course, you know, was in rehab for a DUI crash.
01:25Yeah.
01:25And he made a joke that he would be the new face of Grand Theft Auto.
01:28That is hilarious.
01:29It's a funny joke.
01:30You have to go.
01:31It's funny.
01:32You got to go after Tiger with all this stuff.
01:34I feel like especially with Tiger Woods, I would say in the golf world, but also mainstream
01:38world, because let's be honest, I don't know much about golf.
01:40But from the golfers I do know, I know he's a very memeable man.
01:45I mean, I think in spite of this, obviously like this, I think he's had multiple DUIs and
01:51luckily no one got hurt.
01:52I know the body cam footage of him in the back of the car.
01:56Like that's been a big meme blowing up all around.
01:59So I guess it's just Marcelo giving into the joke.
02:02Yeah.
02:02He also took a shot at Jake Paul and I love that because he made a joke that like Marcelo
02:08says, oh, my dad and my stepdad are here.
02:09They're they're both in their 50s.
02:11So that's the kind of guy you'd want to take on.
02:15And, you know, because Jacob, you know, famously like, you know, won a boxing match against
02:19a much older guy.
02:20Mike Tyson.
02:21Yeah.
02:21Mike Tyson.
02:23The Paul brothers.
02:25It wasn't fair.
02:26They're fun to go after, too, though, because I feel like they get it and they'll like play
02:28the game in terms of like making fun of them.
02:30So and I think they're one of their rises to fame.
02:33I know Jake Paul was on Disney Channel, but also, you know, there was the whole YouTube
02:37team talent of all like team 10.
02:39And of it all.
02:40But, you know, like they were all about the diss track.
02:43So if there's anyone who should have a good sense of humor about roasts, disses, things
02:47like that, I think Jake Paul should be.
02:50I feel like I was really into the WNBA joke.
02:52Just because I love Basketball Wives, the show I was a big fan.
02:57So when he was like, oh, like the WNBA is getting all this money now.
03:00So that makes space for a new show called Basketball Husbands or Wives.
03:05I said more wives.
03:07A sports joke you could pick up on.
03:09Exactly.
03:10I would definitely be watching this.
03:11Tune in.
03:12And I think it would, I mean, I know that was a joke, but I feel like that would be
03:14a
03:15really interesting show because we always see like the wives of the NBA players.
03:19So to see that kind of different dynamic, what it's like to be a wife, a wag in the WNBA.
03:25Oh, I'm sure it gets messy.
03:26Oh, yeah.
03:28Off court.
03:28I would love to see that.
03:29I would love to see what kind of, you know, infighting there is with, you know, the Liberty.
03:33I'm surprised there's not more like wag shows and productions and stuff because I feel like
03:37there's so much attention on it.
03:38Obviously being, you know, Taylor now being one in the football world.
03:42So I think it's like, there's, there's, we'll never forget about the OG Victoria Beckham.
03:46Right, of course.
03:47The original wax.
03:48The original wax.
03:48We need that wedding footage.
03:50I know.
03:51I want to see her dirty dancing at her son's wedding.
03:53I'm desperate for it.
03:54I know.
03:54But the big sports story, of course, of the moment is the World Cup.
03:57Mm-hmm.
03:57And Marcelo, you know, he, he was like joking about how all the European players are like
04:02hoarding ranch dressing now that they're in the United States.
04:05No, I've seen TikToks.
04:06It's relatable.
04:07Like, welcome to America.
04:08I've seen TikToks.
04:08They love ranch.
04:09Yeah.
04:09They're trying to sneak it back.
04:10They don't get ranch.
04:11They don't get ranch.
04:12The fries, pizza, ranch goes with everything.
04:14Oh, I dip my pizza in it.
04:15I love it.
04:16Oh, it's delicious.
04:17Flaming hot Cheetos in ranch.
04:17Welcome Europeans to the obsession with ranch.
04:20Oh, totally.
04:21I mean, I'm not the big of a ranch person, but I do see other TikToks.
04:24I mean, America gets so much hate for our food, but then they're here and they're like,
04:29their mind is blown.
04:29I mean, rightfully so though.
04:31Oh, yeah.
04:31We're not talking healthy though.
04:32It's not like we're talking healthy stuff here.
04:34All the addictive in our food, like I'm sure they're going crazy.
04:38And by the way, we can't eat lettuce guys right now currently.
04:40So I mean, have that with your ranch and pizza.
04:42Yeah.
04:43At this point, I'm going to McDonald's and saying, hold the lettuce.
04:45I'm down.
04:46I'm down.
04:47I had lettuce in my wrap yesterday.
04:48And I'm still here to tell the story.
04:50She's risking it.
04:51That's not what it hits you.
04:52There are these German tourists that have been posting about their road trip across the
04:56U.S.
04:57Yeah.
04:57In the World Cup.
04:58Yeah.
04:58And they're eating so much Taco Bell like every day.
05:01They love Taco Bell.
05:01Risky guys, risky.
05:03Oh my God.
05:04They better be careful.
05:05Aren't they like getting investigated?
05:06They sure are.
05:07What?
05:07Taco Bell.
05:08Taco Bell is.
05:09They also really love Chipotle.
05:11That German couple might be going down with them.
05:12They love Chipotle.
05:13Yeah.
05:13And it's so entertaining to see their minds be blown by our portions, our restaurants,
05:18especially fast food.
05:19I'm kind of proud.
05:20I think it's like a market that the U.S. has cornered.
05:23It's like fast food and junk food.
05:25We do it better than anyone.
05:26Our chips taste better.
05:27Have you had potato chips overseas?
05:29I mean, I was going to say I've had McDonald's overseas.
05:32It tastes so different.
05:33It's so weird, right?
05:34It's definitely better in terms of you feel better after it.
05:37But if you want just to feel like crap and have McDonald's, you got to do it in New York.
05:40We were talking about this.
05:40Ketchup in America is made with like so much sugar and corn syrup.
05:45You can't get that.
05:47Yeah.
05:47Ketchup overseas is like basically tomato sauce.
05:49Yeah.
05:50No.
05:52Listen, I'll take the healthier food personally.
05:54Okay.
05:54I'm just like, stop poisoning us.
05:56Don't be boring now.
05:58I like flavor.
05:59I don't really care.
06:00I'll deal with the stomach ache.
06:00Whatever.
06:02I mean, with this whole parasite thing, I guess it'll kind of contradict because then
06:05whatever, like you can just lose the weight or whatever from the parasite.
06:08True.
06:09Exactly.
06:09Let me know how that goes.
06:10I'm not interested in that.
06:12I'm not interested in that.
06:13Well, whatever Marcelo's doing, he looked great up there.
06:16He did.
06:16Maybe he looked, you know, he looked, you know, a little plumped, a little, a little trim.
06:21Very cute.
06:22I love those little, the sockless.
06:23And he knows how to make fun of himself, even in his intro, because they're like coming
06:26in at five, seven.
06:28He said, whoa, whoa, pause.
06:29I'm five, eight.
06:31I think it's interesting now that we're kind of in an era of like the new, newbie of comedians
06:35with them hosting those events.
06:37You have Nikki Glaser doing the Golden Globes now every year.
06:39So I think it's fun to see those people getting these opportunities and also doing a good job
06:42at it.
06:42We need it because I feel like after a while, it's like, why are we recycling the same people
06:46that have jimmies?
06:48Exactly.
06:49With the same jokes.
06:49You know, I think it's very entertaining to see, but not as entertaining, no offense to
06:54the ESPYs, I'm not really a sports girl, as Love Island.
06:56Love Island.
06:58Yes.
06:58Season eight is over, obviously.
07:00It's always the talk of the summer.
07:01For me, it's not Memorial Day that marks summer for me.
07:05It's Love Island.
07:06So now that it's over, I have to figure out what to do with my life.
07:09So summer's over mid-July, essentially.
07:1236 episodes?
07:13You watched it all.
07:14Oh, every summer.
07:15I watched a few After Suns.
07:17I didn't watch the After Sun, but I watched all the episodes too.
07:19You're loyal.
07:20I'm very loyal.
07:20So the big talk of Love Island this season is the men and pretty much a bunch of people,
07:26including a bunch of outlets, Harper's Bazaar being one of them, about kind of the whole
07:31manosphere of it all.
07:32This is one of the more younger Gen Z seasons that we have seen as, you know, that kind of
07:37started around season six.
07:38And there has been talk about the difference between the older Gen Z on the show and the
07:42younger one and how kind of like the manosphere has possibly influenced their behavior and how
07:48they view women and sex and things like that.
07:51These guys are sort of male chauvinists.
07:52A little bit.
07:53They're like talking about their matches like terribly behind their backs.
07:57Terribly.
07:58And the Casa Amor, they're immediately going to hook up with other women.
08:02Which is common.
08:02I mean, don't get me wrong.
08:04Love Island men in the past, there has been no shortage of men that are toxic, that are,
08:08you know, don't treat women the best.
08:10But I feel like this season watching, it was a little bit different, especially the way
08:15they were talking about their partners on the show.
08:18I know for me, one big one was Casey.
08:21He was partnered up with a girl named Anaya and behind her back, I mean, he would be saying
08:26things like she didn't want to have sex with him the first week.
08:28And honestly, I understand.
08:29Who wants to have sex on camera?
08:30And called her a grandma or something?
08:31He calls her a grandma.
08:32And see, I personally feel like the smoke and heat for that was just way too far.
08:36Like everyone is dragging him online.
08:38All the girls are dragging him online.
08:40And I'm like, you know, he has told his, Anaya, he had told her multiple times, like,
08:45I want to explore.
08:45I want to see other people or when they come in, if someone comes in that I want to explore,
08:50I want to explore that person and you should too.
08:52And so when he goes to explore and cost them more, now the girls are in an uproar.
08:56It wasn't that he explored.
08:57It's the way he did it.
08:58That's the difference.
08:59Because you can, there's a way to explore, which by the way, is totally common in the show.
09:03That's what it's for.
09:04It's the point of the show.
09:05Without insulting her.
09:06Like, cause he was saying, he's like, oh, we have nothing in common.
09:08And they were asking like, oh, do you even care?
09:10Like what she's doing back here?
09:11He's like, I don't care.
09:11Like, I don't care about her.
09:13And to be spending that much time together and saying those things.
09:16I mean, there's a way to explore while doing it respectfully.
09:19Like there were other creepy comments, like Corbin literally right before he went into
09:22cost some more told Kenzie that he has feelings for her.
09:25He, and things like that, that he does see us, you know, see this relationship going somewhere.
09:31And then the second, literally not even 24 hours later, he went into cost some more.
09:35The girls came out without even having a conversation with him.
09:38He said, oh yeah, I'm coming back with someone now.
09:40And then.
09:41That's just men for you.
09:42I know.
09:42But then later on, when he was speaking to Casey.
09:57Reflection of society.
09:58Meanwhile, these are adults.
09:59You shouldn't be, you know.
10:00I know.
10:00You shouldn't be dating anyone at high school.
10:02I know.
10:03You shouldn't be dating anyone at high school.
10:05I'm like, when I'm watching this, I'm like, you're f***ing kids.
10:08We feel so old.
10:08For even to say that.
10:09But also with the Kenzie thing and the Corbin thing, I just want to say.
10:13I totally disagree.
10:14Kenzie was also doing the same exact thing.
10:17No, it was different.
10:17I swear to God.
10:18She was respectful.
10:18She was the one exception, right?
10:19She was the one player on the family.
10:21I will say she was the one girl really willing to explore.
10:24And I think it was different because she was open and honest with all the men.
10:27A little bit.
10:28No, whenever movie night happens and she did see it play out.
10:32I sent some tension between you two.
10:34And she immediately apologized for anyone she's hurt.
10:37And where I can't say, Casey, Corbin, and Sincere, they did not.
10:43They just added more fuel to the fire and somehow made it the girls' fault.
10:47And I did not like that.
10:48I saw one outlet called this the heterosexual hunger games.
10:51Oh, totally.
10:52And as a gay man, I sort of did not relate to a lot of this backstabbing,
10:56you know, backstabby kind of drama.
10:58Yeah, we haven't been there, done that.
10:59My algorithm, I was being fed the bromance between Bryce and Zach.
11:04Zach.
11:04Yes.
11:05There was a viral clip.
11:06Give us more of that.
11:07One of them was like, hey, girth check.
11:09And he kind of looks down.
11:10That was the most locked in I was on this.
11:11And I was like, what's going on with these two?
11:13Yeah, exactly.
11:14It seemed like the guys are really bonding in ways that is not intended.
11:18Yeah.
11:19With Bryce and Zach, that was, they had an interesting relationship.
11:22Yeah.
11:22Like they were like humping each other.
11:23It was interesting.
11:24I mean, they're all so pent up, you know?
11:26Right, right.
11:27And these, this villa, they're a lot of hand-holding, a lot of kissing, but like how much actual-
11:31I mean, some of them are having sex.
11:33They are?
11:33They're like, you can go, they have this thing called the hideaway, where they choose
11:37two couples.
11:37It's like a Swiss room Jersey Shore.
11:38Where they choose a couple to go to throwback.
11:39Yeah, but it's like a little kinky in there.
11:41Oh, I'm sorry.
11:42With these people.
11:42Like they have whips and sex toys.
11:44They have sex together and stuff like that, right?
11:45Yeah.
11:46Like one-on-one time.
11:47Not as much this season.
11:48Okay.
11:48No, no.
11:49I mean, I will say if you are going to go all the way, it's in front of all the
11:52people,
11:53all the cameras, and we know.
11:55I mean, you're on Love Island, so I mean, why the hell not?
11:57I guess if that's how they feel.
11:58Can we talk about the winners though?
11:59Maybe there was some redemption in all of this?
12:01Sure.
12:02Well, I will say there were some men that were perfectly fine gentlemen.
12:06Like Bryce, one of the winners, half of Brenity was one of them.
12:10Yeah.
12:10And he got with Trinity and they were considered like a classic rom-com, like started out as
12:15friends.
12:15They were so sweet.
12:16They found each other.
12:16I will say the other boys need to take a page out of his life.
12:19Honestly, at first you couldn't, like I, most people I feel like didn't even think that
12:23they would be matched together.
12:24I agree.
12:24Because they just kind of got together because no one was really with them.
12:27And it was kind of interesting to see their relationship just fully develop into like
12:30a friendship.
12:31And then it's like, oh my God, wait, they really have chemistry.
12:33And then when their parents got together too, it was like, this is chef's kiss.
12:37It's like, but Zach was shading it.
12:39Zach, you know, maybe was a little jealous.
12:41Zach was such a hater.
12:41He was saying they're not really compatible, you know, which-
12:43Well, easy to say that for jealousy because they ended up being the winners.
12:46The question is, how long are they going to last?
12:48I think they're going to last.
12:49Or are they just playing the game?
12:50They are boyfriend and girlfriend.
12:51They became boyfriend and girlfriend on the show.
12:53They were the first one.
12:53Which by the way is such a high school term.
12:55It really is.
12:55I know.
12:56Well, the thing is-
12:57Did they pass a no along the way?
12:59He was one of the few in costume where that was very respectful of her.
13:02I will say.
13:03Like, he tried to talk to other women and there was this really sweet moment when he
13:07was speaking to Sincere when he was saying like, all these girls are beautiful, but they're
13:13not Trinity.
13:13And he starts crying and saying how much he misses her.
13:16I mean, she is stunning.
13:17I looked at her Instagram and I was like, and he's not on her Instagram anywhere by the
13:20way.
13:21I don't think they posted yet.
13:22They haven't posted.
13:23Most of them haven't posted yet.
13:24They just got their phones back a couple days ago.
13:25I do want to say before we move forward, I feel like Sincere did not get enough backlash.
13:32I agree.
13:33And that's what really bothered me the most about the whole thing.
13:35It's like, I do feel like, okay, the grandma comment was bad or maybe what some of the
13:39guys were saying were worse.
13:40Sincere was a liar.
13:40He was the worst person on that show.
13:43Ironic.
13:43His name is Sincere.
13:44Oh, they call him Insincere.
13:46Insincere is his name.
13:47From Jersey.
13:48He's from Jersey.
13:48He's from Jersey.
13:50Shut up.
13:51Honestly, the worst character on the show.
13:53And I feel like the girls, the way that they kind of caped for him too.
13:57I didn't like that either.
13:58Like Anaya, who was so upset at KC for exploring other women, even though he already told her
14:02he was going to.
14:03Right.
14:03She was so upset about that.
14:05But then when Sincere was like doing Melanie dirty, she'd be like, oh, I'm team Sincere.
14:09I'm team Sincere.
14:10I'm team Sincere.
14:11And it's like.
14:11That was a big topic of the show too, is like, despite these consistent toxic dynamics,
14:17there were a lot of girls where they were like, no, like they were kind of pushing for
14:21her to work it out, which I don't understand.
14:23There's like an infatuation with it, I think.
14:25I mean, again, it's a reflection of society with like infatuation of toxic relationships.
14:28Oh, yeah.
14:29Speaking of toxic relationships.
14:30Yep.
14:31On Peacock starting July 17th is the horror movie breakout Obsession.
14:36Yeah.
14:36I'm the only one here who's seen it.
14:37I am ready to tune in soon.
14:39You guys have to watch it.
14:39It made over $400 million at the box office.
14:41Sleeper hit.
14:42Out of like a very tiny budget.
14:44There's no movie stars in this.
14:45And it's about a toxic friendship.
14:48Basically, this guy's friend zoned.
14:50So he gets a magical wish where he he asked the world.
14:55He breaks a one wish willow branch.
14:57Yeah.
14:58The genie.
14:58For his female friend to fall in love with him and be more in love with him than anyone
15:03in the entire world.
15:04And of course, it goes scarily wrong.
15:06Yeah.
15:06This isn't the title.
15:07Obsession.
15:08Obsession.
15:08You guys have to watch it.
15:09I don't want to spoil it.
15:09But I do want you to watch this one really funny clip after she's now obsessed with him.
15:14And they're on a date night at what I think is like a TGI Fridays or a Chili's.
15:18This clip is so good.
15:20Take a look.
15:21No.
15:26No.
15:27No.
15:28No.
15:29What?
15:29No.
15:30No.
15:32No.
15:32No.
15:33No.
15:34Don't do that.
15:36I thought we were having a nice day.
15:39What?
15:40Okay.
15:40I have so many questions.
15:41Is she okay?
15:42Why are they at such a cheap place?
15:44If you're going to take her on a date, can't they bring her somewhere nicer?
15:46Maybe that's just me being bougie.
15:47I know.
15:48They're in their 20s.
15:49They are?
15:49Oh.
15:49Well then I really got to watch this movie because I didn't pick up on the 20 year old
15:51thing.
15:52That's news to me.
15:53I saw it in the theaters and you could see couples were sort of looking at each other
15:57like, are we weird like this?
15:59Yeah.
15:59Are we like, do we have an unhealthy vibe?
16:01Yeah.
16:01You know, there's a lot going on in this movie.
16:03I mean, what do you guys think?
16:04Is this the kind of thing you watch?
16:05It looks so interesting actually.
16:05Just watching the trailer makes me want to go and watch it because now it's on Peacock and
16:09I can watch it.
16:10But like, I feel like going off this whole Love Island thing into this whole obsession thing,
16:14it's like you don't play with people's feelings and emotions and it's like you want this person
16:18to be obsessed with you and then now it's like, you know.
16:20Be careful what you wish for.
16:21Exactly.
16:22The obsession has begun.
16:22And there's all these theories online about like, is she possessed?
16:26And the director of the movie says, no, it's not a possession story.
16:28It's still her, but she can't control her emotions, which we've all been there.
16:34Right.
16:34You get a crush, you get like thrown in, your mind gets a little, you know, blender brain
16:38and suddenly you're doing or saying things that are crazy.
16:42I don't call it, you know, walking into love.
16:45They call it falling in love.
16:46Right.
16:46And she, she falls off.
16:48Collided into love it sounds like.
16:50I mean, would you say this is kind of a dynamic where she's obsessed with him, but he's not
16:54giving kind of, he's not making it even.
16:57Well, originally in the, in the beginning of the movie, he's in love with her, but doesn't
17:00know how to express it.
17:01Right.
17:02He's in the friend zone.
17:03They have a brother sister kind of vibe.
17:08And so there's these theories online that like, maybe it's sort of mirrors Hansel and
17:11Gretel where their brother and sister, but, but maybe they're like kind of psychosexual
17:16obsession.
17:17There's another crazy theory that she is actually possessed by his dead cat.
17:22Oh, Jesus.
17:23Now this movie, the little movie that could like this movie is not that.
17:28Why is the dead cat involved?
17:29Okay.
17:29There is a dead cat in the very beginning of the movie.
17:32He dies.
17:32He's emotional.
17:33And so he's feeling extra vulnerable and that needs to fill the void.
17:37Can't get a void with another cat.
17:39Exactly.
17:40The adoption shelter.
17:42The online theories are like, oh wait, like who in the world loves you more than anyone
17:46else in the world?
17:47Your pet, your cat, your dog.
17:49And so it's kind of creating this like weird dynamic with a relationship.
17:53Like, do you really want someone to love you and be devoted to you in that, in that most
17:57intense way?
17:58Probably not.
17:58No.
17:59It's not real.
17:59It's too much.
18:01A cat, a woman, two very different species.
18:03Yes.
18:04But you know, I love all the conspiracy theories around it.
18:07Yeah.
18:07You just have to be careful with people's hearts, with people's minds.
18:11And like, you don't want to like force something that's not real or organic because at the
18:15end of the day, like you end up in weird situations.
18:17Oh, definitely.
18:18Yeah.
18:19Putting a spell on probably isn't the best way to.
18:21I mean, we have to watch, the three of us all have to watch it.
18:24So we'll see what the outcome is.
18:25This is your homework assignment for the app session.
18:26It's on Peacock.
18:27People love it.
18:28Like I haven't heard one person say like a negative thing about it.
18:30And I know there was such a claim for the acting and stuff.
18:32And these are kind of two nobodies or at the point.
18:34The stars are going to go big.
18:36Like we've got Michael Johnston and Indy Navaretti, you know, the relative unknowns.
18:40He was in like Teen Wolf.
18:41She was in like a CW Supergirl show.
18:44But now this is like their big moment.
18:46And there's already like early Oscar buzz for her, which is kind of nuts.
18:49That's incredible.
18:50This is a horror movie.
18:51Horror has kind of broken through in the award season.
18:53You know, we just saw him at Sinners.
18:55It's true.
18:55Get out a couple of years ago.
18:56Yeah.
18:57Weapons did really well last year.
18:58So it's interesting to see.
18:59We'll see.
19:00There's a lot of buzz.
19:01Obviously it made a ton of money at the box office and now it's on Peacock.
19:04Possessed by the dead cat.
19:05Yeah.
19:05You had me at that because now I'm really interested.
19:07I'm both like disturbed and interested.
19:09I don't think I'll be watching.
19:11Yeah.
19:11I'm on Reddit.
19:12I'm in the trenches of Reddit.
19:14Yep.
19:15All right.
19:15Well, thanks for watching the app session.
19:18Bye guys.
