Ancestral remains of Rapa Nui people begin long journey home after 143 years at Australian Museum

17 ancestral remains and one sample of human hair have today been returned to the people of Rapa Nui Easter Island by the Australian Museum. It's the largest repatriation project ever undertaken by the almost 200-year-old institution, which began correcting the 144-year-old wrongdoing in 2024.
