00:00Ukraine and the European Union have signed a new deal to expand drone production
00:05by combining Kyiv's battlefield expertise with Europe's industrial capacity.
00:10The deal was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Kyiv.
00:17Ukraine has built a highly sophisticated drone industry after more than four years of war with Russia.
00:23Von der Leyen said Europe would complement Ukraine's capabilities
00:26by providing industrial capacity, secure production sites and financial support.
00:31Funding will come from the EU's €90 billion support loan for Ukraine,
00:36as well as €10 billion still available via EU's defence programme.
00:41The visit is von der Leyen's 11th to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
00:47Besides defence cooperation, the visit will also focus on Ukraine's bid to join the EU
00:53and preparations for winter as the country braces for further attacks on its energy infrastructure.
