00:00Congress may finally be about to do something about a thing most Americans, regardless of party,
00:06agree on. We all hate daylight saving time. Seriously, our collective loathing as citizens
00:14of the United States of this biannual bit of misery is not bound by political party. A bipartisan
00:21bill, the Sunshine Protection Act, passed the House on Tuesday evening. The legislature would
00:26give individual states the option to make daylight saving time permanent. The Senate passed a version
00:31of the bill back in 2022, but it died in the House amid opposition. If the upper chamber votes the
00:36same way it did this time around, we could finally say goodbye to the twice a year ritual of losing
00:41and gaining an hour of sleep. What justifiable reason would a lawmaker have for not wanting to do
00:46this? None, I tell you. And guess who agrees with me? President Trump. He is a big supporter of the
00:52plan. He called the clock change a, quote, ridiculous twice yearly production and said
00:57permanent daylight saving time would give Americans a longer, brighter day. You definitely can't argue
01:02with that first part. Now, supporters say it would mean more time for outdoor activities, sports,
01:07shopping and even fewer traffic accidents. About 20 states have already passed laws that would make
01:13daylight saving time permanent. They're just waiting for Congress to give them the green light. But not
01:17everyone is sold. Some doctors say permanent standard time. So not daylight saving time, which is what
01:23we're in now. That the standard time is actually healthier because it better matches our natural
01:28body clocks. Now, in most states, like I said, we're in daylight saving time now. And honestly,
01:33whatever works, standard saving, just stop making us change the clocks. Pick a time and stick with it.
