00:06a national of the Dominican Republic who has legal permanent residency in the United States.
00:12Her name is Karen Contreras. She's 45 years old. And Ms. Contreras decided that she was going to create fake
00:19identities and cash in during COVID and fraudulently obtain unemployment insurance benefits using other people's names and Social Security numbers.
00:31So she accessed government prepaid cards that gave her about a million dollars. Well, she's not so happy these days
00:41because we were able to track her down. She's pled guilty and she faces a significant amount of time in
00:47federal prison.
00:48You know, the sad part about this is that Americans who are entitled to benefits, who legally are being protected
00:58and taken care of by the government, are being robbed by these people.
