00:03I love that you brought in Michael Kelly for this role because you bring that man and he kills any
00:07time.
00:08He killed it.
00:08But now that we have this connection here, is there already an idea for that G.I. Joe Transformers crossover?
00:18No.
00:18And what made you even think of doing that?
00:20We don't think of it as a crossover either, which is interesting.
00:23Oh, no.
00:24Well, the terminology for me, I find it limiting.
00:30Fair.
00:32We've been debating, Joe.
00:33The fan base has been debating it forever.
00:36You know, they're like, come on, when are you going to do it?
00:38When are you going to do it?
00:38And we've wanted to do it, but we've never found really an organic situation to do it with.
00:45So what happened in this case is when we came up with a character who can't get a job, it
00:51was like the greatest idea that he's going to get the greatest job ever.
00:54Right.
00:55And so it was really otherwise it feels like you're just jamming it in.
00:58Yeah.
00:59You know, it feels like it's the payoff to the movie.
01:02Honestly, it was.
01:03It was just amazing to see that.
01:04And he's got the card in his hand.
01:05I'm thinking, OK, it's Nest.
01:06It's Sector 7.
01:07Whatever.
01:08Yeah, exactly.
01:08He flips it in his G.I. Joe.
01:09I go, jaw drops.
01:11Like, what?
01:12Well, you know, what's funny is we shot two cards.
01:16What was the other one?
01:17Sector 7.
01:19Because we wanted to experience it ourselves because we were really it was important to us that it felt very
01:24organic.
01:25So we didn't know until we saw it that it was like, OK, it works.
01:29You know, that we had that chill that tingled down the spine that like, Joe.
01:35Well, I was excited about it.
01:36Like, I remember presenting it to the studio when I first turned in the draft of the script to the
01:41producers and everybody.
01:42And they're like, well, this is crazy.
01:44This is a leap.
01:44But I saw on everyone's faces they were kind of excited about it.
01:47Like, it led us to a new direction.
01:48And all the possibilities now went like this.
01:52But I was just like, I feel like in terms of that specific franchise, like, that's the one where I
01:57did have the toys growing up.
01:58I didn't have the toys of Transformers growing up.
02:00My mom and dad never had a sad face.
02:02But in this particular case, the Joes I did have.
02:05And I was like, if there's a way that I can combine these and, like, create something natural and organic
02:10so fans could appreciate, but see them sort of working together, you know, would be cool.
02:15And then I'm a fan of the graphic novels, too, and the comics.
02:17And there is a few special edition comics out there that kind of hint at it.
02:20So when I pitched it to the studio and said, well, we can go with it, they were excited about
02:25it.
02:25It just took, like, two years for us to finally get all the yeses that we need to move forward
02:29on it.
