National infrastructure should no longer be judged solely by the number of projects completed but by its ability to conserve resources, protect the environment and improve people's quality of life, says Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Speaking at the launch of the JKR pH Day 2026 programme on Monday (July 14), he said the Works Ministry, through the Public Works Department (JKR), is committed to ensuring government assets meet the highest standards of safety, quality, efficiency, resilience and sustainability.
He also welcomed three new JKR initiatives — the JKR Sustainable Development Policy, the JKR SIRIM 2025 PH JKR Development Standard and the ePH JKR System — saying they will strengthen governance, standardise practices, accelerate digital transformation and improve the efficiency of JKR's green rating system.
