Norway soccer team receives heroes’ welcome in Oslo

Massive crowds filled the grounds of the Royal Palace in Oslo on Monday (July 13) evening, giving their soccer team a heroes' welcome as they returned home from the United States. A 2-1 extra-time defeat by England on Saturday (July 11) brought Norway's historic run to an end in the quarter-finals in the World Cup, shattering the Nordics' dreams of a semi-final berth. However, it did not stop the country celebrating their heroes. An unofficial estimate put the number at 100,000 people who had gathered outside the Royal Palace, packing the palace square before stretching far down the main street, Karl Johans gate.
