00:01Johor says it will not be a base for movements that go against the law, as the state calls for
00:06a full probe into Network School in Forest City.
00:09It comes amid public concern over the operations of the Network School, including allegations that Israeli nationals took part in
00:16its programs using second passports.
00:18In a statement on Tuesday, Mentri Basar Datuk On Hafiz Ghazi called on the Home Ministry, Immigration Department, Police, Customs
00:27Department and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation.
00:31He said the probe should look into the identities and nationalities of those involved, their travel documents, alleged use of
00:38second passports, the type of passes used and whether their actual activities match their stated reasons for entering the country.
00:45The Higher Education Ministry, Digital Ministry and other regulatory agencies have also been directed to determine the school's actual operating
00:53status and whether its programs require registration or approval under Malaysian law.
00:58At the state level, the Iskandar Puteri City Council, Johor Land and Mines Office and other relevant agencies will review
01:05compliance on premises licenses, building and land use, accommodation and business activities tied to the site.
01:11On Hafiz said the Johor government is treating the matter seriously and will continue acting within the law to safeguard
01:18the state's interests and the country's sovereignty.
01:21Founded by tech investor and former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan, the Network School has turned a hotel in Forest City
01:28into a campus, attracting hundreds of remote workers, digital nomads and online creators.
01:32It's part of Srinivasan's broader push, outlined in his 2022 book, to build what he calls a global tech-focused
01:40network state.
