Back in the late 1950s, Ford introduced a radical concept car known as the Ford Nucleon. The futuristic idea was to power the vehicle using uranium or plutonium pellets, theoretically allowing the car to travel between 10,000 and 15,000 kilometers on a single piece of fuel.
Although engineers seriously considered and explored the project, they eventually realized that putting radioactive vehicles into everyday traffic was an incredibly dangerous idea, and the project was ultimately scrapped.
