Filipina Tennis Ace and World No. 28 Alex Eala received a homecoming reception at Malacañang Palace on Monday, July 13, hosted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The first Filipina seeded Grand Slam singles player who reached Wimbledon’s fourth round after beating Polish defending champion Iga Swiatek, and vowed to keep representing the Philippines with pride.

She appreciated the warm welcome and validation of all her hard work, sharing that her triumph belongs to every Filipino. Eala will hold a fan meet at Glorietta Activity Center on Wednesday, July 15. (Video courtesy of RTVM)

00:42I never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would be having dinner here at Malacanang,
00:50at the Malacanang Palace next to you and be receiving such kind and genuine words.
00:58And I feel very seen.
01:04And hearing that come from you, you know, I feel like all the hard work that I've done is seen.
01:15All the hours that aren't on TV are seen and validated and appreciated.

01:31I'm so grateful for this recognition.

01:43It's so humbling to be in the presence of all of you.
