00:00The movie set is not one that you, it's like controlled chaos.
00:03I set up a sort of structure for us to, for Imogen to really inhabit and put her life into
00:09the movie.
00:09And I followed her and I had to put a straight jacket on to, to not sort of, yeah, try
00:16and control it too much.
00:18I had to kind of trust the fact that because of the years that I spent with the movie,
00:23that, that it was, it was going to just seep, it was just going to seep into the results.
00:30But for me, it was about like journey and process and experience.
00:34And so no, I mean, like, of course I've worked with directors that have like made me want to also
00:40do the job.
00:41They're my favorite exchanges with directors are always emotional and inarticulate.
00:46They're scene partners, they're actors, just as much as actors are directors.
00:50I mean, like she led, she led the charge and her whole soul body mind is the movie.
00:55Her skin is our palette.
00:57So I don't know that I've seen, I've never worked, I've never worked like that.
01:02I've never worked for someone who put me on a path like that.
01:05It's always been different.
01:06I think every movie set, there is not a standardized approach.
01:10You must like sort of break and bespoke process in order to make something new.
01:15But the most influential part of this whole movie is, of course, Kristen, the adaptation of the book.
01:24If you read the book also, beautiful writing.
01:27I think this girl should be nominated for adaptation and directing and she is, she is the movie.
01:35And what I did was just kind of follow her, her gaze, her really focused storytelling.
01:48And she, she has it all.
01:51She had the mind of a writer, the heart of an actress and the soul of a director.
01:55She has the Holy Trinity all in one and all came together in this movie for her.
02:00And I was just happy to be gliding along with her because she led me to one of my best
02:07performances in years.
