00:01Again, tonight we got a playoff game.
00:03Well, I mean, that's the time of year.
00:05And, you know, this is what you hope you have when you get to mid-August and on into September.
00:09You hope you get to it.
00:10Every game is the biggest game of the world type of a schedule.
00:14And this is what's happening.
00:15So, you give the ball to a rook.
00:17Kyle Harrison is going to go out there and he's going to try and stop this little two-game losing
00:20streak.
00:22There's a ball high and outside.
00:25Austin Riley single out to left field.
00:27So, the Braves, the first two men on.
00:29Atlanta didn't have a hit against Snell yesterday until the seventh inning.
00:33But tonight it comes two batters in.
00:35Here's Ozuna.
00:36Got him.
00:37Struck him out with a changeup.
00:40Olsen drives this one to center field.
00:42Ramos is going back.
00:44He's going to reach up and make the catch.
00:46Two down.
00:47And here is Travis Darno.
00:49And Darno is the guy who knocked in the only run of last night's game.
00:54Got him.
00:54Did not start well for Harrison.
00:56But then, with all kinds of traffic out there, he retired three outstanding hitters consecutively.
01:04Charlie, 6'5", 215 pounds, the right-hander from Redding, Connecticut, 40 years old.
01:10He'll keep an eye on his strikeouts tonight.
01:12He's coming up on a historic number for his career.
01:14For Charlie, he enters this ballgame eight career strikeouts from 2000.
01:20Drives this one to right.
01:22It had the right sound way out of the triple's alley and off of the number seven archway.
01:28Ramos is on the move and he'll have a triple.
01:31And Ramos is standing at third with two down.
01:35And there's a good one.
01:37The curveball confounds Conforto.
01:41Raves won last night.
01:431-0 in 10 innings.
01:44Here's Ramon Laureano.
01:46He's coming to Atlanta.
01:47He's hitting 261.
01:49Laureano hits that pretty well out to right field.
01:52That thing may go.
01:53Yes, it does.
01:56Ramon Laureano.
01:57An opposite field solo homer.
02:00Won the nothing Atlanta.
02:02Right on time, as we were saying, the ball just flies out of this ballpark.
02:06Can't hold Ramon Laureano.
02:08This is impressive going the other way.
02:11And now here's Whit Merrifield.
02:16Well, that's a 3-1 pitch.
02:18It's well high.
02:19Because he does not go.
02:21And he got him.
02:22Braves have gone 21-13 this season when facing a left-handed starter.
02:27Had off to a good start tonight.
02:28Back to the top of the order, Jorge Soler.
02:31Jorge heard a couple of boos yesterday.
02:33Right center field.
02:35A little pop in this one.
02:36And that's going to plug the gap.
02:38Bouncing up against the wall.
02:41Merrifield will come home.
02:43RBI double.
02:44Jorge Soler.
02:45It's 2-0.
02:46Morton and the Braves now with a 2-0 lead.
02:49Chapman had been swinging really well lately.
02:50He got shot down last night.
02:52Right up the middle.
02:53And a base hit.
02:54Is that shot right past Charlie Morton.
02:57That was a hanger.
02:59Shoots this one up the middle.
03:00There's a hit.
03:01And there goes Chapman.
03:03So runners hit first and third.
03:05Nobody out.
03:05And here comes Patrick Bailey.
03:07So this is an area where the Giants have really struggled.
03:10Runners in scoring position, especially a couple of other key pieces.
03:15Bounces this one.
03:17And they're going to get the out at first.
03:20Bailey gets an RBI.
03:22Chapman scores.
03:23And right now he'll take it.
03:25And so were the Giants.
03:26So runner at first and third.
03:27Nobody out situation has not been an easy one for him.
03:30And the Giants have their first run in 15.
03:33Innings of baseball dating back to two games ago.
03:37Encarnacion hits it to Orlando Garcia.
03:40Strong throw.
03:42Two outs.
03:42Runner still out at second base.
03:441-2 and a good 1-2 curveball to get Brett Wisely swinging.
03:49Giants on the board.
03:51Travis Darno.
03:52Let's look at the numbers again.
03:53He drove in the game winning run last night.
03:55But hitting 3-10 since July 13th.
03:57He's been raking in big spots.
03:59Travis Darno hits this high and deep down the left field line.
04:05And it is gone.
04:07Solo homer for the Braves catcher.
04:113-1 Atlanta.
04:12And it's the second home run of the ball game for the Braves.
04:15And for Travis his 13th of the season.
04:18It's a 3-1 lead for Charlie Morton and the Braves.
04:20Into the bottom of the third inning.
04:21Top of the order coming up for the Giants.
04:24High drive into left center field.
04:27White on the move.
04:29White looking up.
04:30On it here.
04:32A booming home run to left center field.
04:35That had so much carry to it.
04:38It just kept going and going.
04:40So now the Giants have that run back.
04:42Back to a one run deficit.
04:453-2 Braves.
04:47Swing and a miss.
04:49Five strikeouts for Charlie Morton.
04:52Who by the way is now just three away from 2,000 in his career.
04:56So looking for a clean bottom of the fourth inning from Charlie Morton.
04:59Swing and a miss.
05:0095.
05:01That is K number 1.
05:03998 in the career of Charlie Morton.
05:05Charlie brings him.
05:06Struck him out.
05:08And that's career strikeout number 1,999 for Charlie Morton.
05:13So now he's one strikeout away from 2,000.
05:16Stay on the ball and hit the ball hard the other way.
05:18Like that.
05:19Exactly what you're calling for.
05:21Base hit into the gap in right center field.
05:25Got it.
05:26And he gets out of it after a leadoff single by Riley.
05:29He never got past first.
05:31On an infield out by Patrick Bailey in the second.
05:34There's a swing and a drive in the deep center field.
05:36Going back is Ramos on the warning track.
05:40He jumps and makes the catch.
05:42I mean that fly ball kept growing.
05:44And it was a quick one.
05:46He got back straight landed to a high backhander.
05:48And he needed every bit of that jump.
05:50Charlie Morton back out there in the bottom of the sixth.
05:52Still one strikeout away from 2,000 in his career.
05:56Chapman's going to get to walk anyway.
05:58And that will open up to six.
05:59And they are starting to stir down in that Braves bullpen after that leadoff walk.
06:04And we'll see how the night finishes for Charlie.
06:06But either way you like to see this.
06:08Strike him out.
06:10Strikeout number 2,000 in the tremendous career of Charlie Morton.
06:15Just the 89th pitcher to 2,000 in baseball history.
06:19Quite the feather in the cap for the veteran Morton.
06:23Runner goes for second base.
06:25Travis fires from his knees and got him.
06:29Chapman is dead in the water.
06:30Pitch number 98 tonight.
06:32Ground ball.
06:34Merrifield diving stop from his knees.
06:37Yes, sir.
06:38Charlie gets through six.
06:40Charlie Morton getting all the hugs in the dugout.
06:43Not only for a great outing, but certainly everybody over there knows, CJ,
06:46that he got strikeout number 2,000.
06:48Here's the payoff to Lamont Wade drives this one into left center field.
06:55And Solaire can't get it.
06:57It's up against the wall.
06:59Solaire digs it out.
07:00Wade's got a double.
07:06Riley kicks it.
07:08And then he whiffs.
07:10And Aaron Riley and two are on with nobody out.
07:13Johnson delivering the 1-1.
07:16Grounder to second base.
07:17Merrifield on a second for one.
07:20Double play.
07:21And you can't overthink it too much when it comes to maybe burying the breaking ball
07:25with a potential tying run on third.
07:27You just got to put your trust in Travis Darnold that if you want to throw one below the zone,
07:30that he'll be able to block it.
07:32And here comes Wade.
07:35And believe it or not, this game is tied.
07:38It is the bottom of the ninth.
07:41Tie game 3-3.
07:42Dylan Lee, left-hander for the 36th timeout of the Atlanta bullpen.
07:45It's Patrick Bailey and the Giant.
07:48Center field.
07:50Eli White tracking back.
07:52Reaches up and makes a catch.
07:55What a grab by Eli White.
07:59White into the padded wall and straightaway center.
08:01And robs Patrick Bailey of extra bases.
08:04Lee is ready.
08:05He fires.
08:06Ground ball.
08:08He did throw the fastball there.
08:10It worked.
08:11And for the second game in a row, extra inning.
08:15Now we get Travis' chance to be a hero two nights in a row.
08:18Darnold to the right side.
08:20It does get through.
08:22Darnold delivers again.
08:24After the second night in a row, Braves score in the tenth.
08:28Runner at second base is Casey Schmitt.
08:30Climbing in Tyler Fitzgerald.
08:32Bunning and laying it down.
08:33Oh, Travis goes to third.
08:35They got him.
08:36I wonder if Bob Melvin's looking for some version of interference.
08:40You see right there, though, Jeremy Riggs did stop the play.
08:44I have to tell you, I'm pretty confused on all this.
08:46They're calling the batter out?
08:48Yeah, they say Fitzgerald is out.
08:50And Schmitt returns to second base.
08:52So there's some version of interference that was called then on the batter.
08:56Now this one hit out to center field.
08:59There's Eli White.
09:01Well, at any rate, what we know is that there are two outs.
09:04The Giants down to their final out.
09:06Drama, drama, drama.
09:08A lot of it last night.
09:09Even more tonight.
09:10And a high fly ball, way up in the air.
09:13Deep left.
09:14Kelnick to the track.
09:15He's under it.
09:17Braves win.
09:18And it's deja vu all over again.
09:21The Braves win again by one run in ten innings.
