00:04This is the long-forgotten kingdom of the Dadan or Lihian people, found in northwest Saudi Arabia.
00:10And recently archaeologists began excavating five new sites related to the 2,000-year-old civilizations.
00:16Dadan was one of the largest at the time, even being mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible.
00:20The kingdoms ruled the area for some 900 years, until around 100 CE.
00:25And now the researchers say these new discoveries will give them better clues about these ancient people's lives, economics, and
00:32religion.
00:32The sites they're excavating include an Islamic area, a temple, a residential area, and a cemetery.
00:38Giving the team much more diversity, with regards to unearthing the civilization's customs and culture, as previous excavations have limited
00:45them to very particular areas.
00:47Now they're hoping to fill in the blanks and figure out when each site was built, creating a cultural chronology
00:52for the ancient excavation.
00:53Which will hopefully provide the archaeologists a much better view of what life may have been like 2,000 years
00:58ago, when the kingdom was still flourishing.
