00:27Do I need a mic?
00:29I don't know. I have a pretty good big mouth.
00:35Good morning, Democrats!
00:41I don't know about y'all, but I am so excited for this election cycle.
00:46You know, as Nevada Democrats, we never take our foot off the gas,
00:49so at the end of one election cycle, we get right into the next one.
00:53Thank you for being out here on a kind of warm Saturday morning in Las Vegas.
01:00It's a little cooler than it was a few days ago for the opening of our CD4 coordinated campaign office.
01:08Thank you to our amazing staff that decorated and got this going.
01:13Now you know this is home if you're doing work in this area town in CD4
01:19because we have a lot of great things going on in CD4.
01:22We have a lot of great things going on here, right?
01:24On the ballot for North Las Vegas, there's a person running for mayor.
01:30I don't know who she is, but I hear she's kind of amazing.
01:52But I know! I know!
01:57But I can't do the work as the next mayor for the city of North Las Vegas
02:01without having a Democratic legislature, right?
02:07I need to have a change in the governor's office.
02:14And I need to send our amazing congressman back to Washington, D.C.
02:19to continue fighting for our families.
02:21So without further ado, I'm going to turn the mic over to my friend,
02:26our congressman, Congressman Stephen Horsford.
02:33Well, good morning!
02:35Good morning!
02:36Let's give a round of applause to our state party chair
02:39and the next mayor of North Las Vegas, Danielle Monroe Moreno.
02:48Welcome to my neighborhood, the 4th Congressional District.
02:53I grew up right down the street on Dee and Leonard.
02:57This community has made me into the person I am,
03:02not just the elected leader that I am, but the person that I am,
03:07because this community gave me a shot.
03:09It gave me a shot to contribute and to make change
03:14and to find my voice and to realize that together
03:17we can do and accomplish anything.
03:20Look around this room.
03:22Look at the diversity.
03:24Look at the generations that are represented.
03:30That is Nevada.
03:33That is the 4th Congressional District.
03:36We are multiracial.
03:37We are working class.
03:40We are fighting for the people who make Nevada work.
03:47And as your representative, I'm proud to take on this fight
03:52every single day on behalf of the people,
03:54not just against the current occupant of the White House,
03:58but more important than him for the things that people need.
04:03better health care, more affordable housing,
04:08access to job training and apprenticeship and college funding,
04:13making sure that we have childcare,
04:16and that we don't leave any community out or behind.
04:20That is the charge that you have given us,
04:22and that is the fight that we will take.
04:24But look, I'm also one of the 30 most competitive races in the House.
04:30We don't win the House Democratic majority unless we win and hold the 4th Congressional District.
04:40Are you going to help me do that?
04:42Yes!
04:43And Susie Lee in Christian 3,
04:46and my colleague Dina Titus in District 1.
04:51The road to the majority in the House runs through Nevada.
05:00So winning back the House to join with Senator Rosen and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto,
05:07and making sure that we have a new governor here in Nevada.
05:18And the person that we're going to make the next governor is a fighter.
05:24He's a fighter for the people.
05:27He's been fighting on behalf of all of us to protect our rights,
05:31our freedoms, and our opportunities.
05:33While there are forces trying to take away those rights,
05:36he's the one as Attorney General that's been holding the line.
05:41So what better person to put in the governor's mansion
05:46there's a guy that has been doing that fight for the last eight, seven years.
05:55Look, there are forces that are trying to rig this election.
05:59We're seeing it every day here in Nevada and all across the country.
06:04But guess what?
06:06The power is with the people to make it too big to rig.
06:11Are you ready to make it too big to rig?
06:14Are you ready to make this election too big to rig?
06:18The people will make this election too big to rig.
06:23And this...
06:24Too big to rig!
06:25Too big to rig!
06:27Too big to rig!
06:29Too big to rig!
06:31Too big to rig!
06:32Too big to rig!
06:32And how do we do that?
06:34We do that by organizing, by talking to our neighbors,
06:37by making sure that every eligible person understands their power
06:43and that we elect people up and down the ballot
06:46who are running for office,
06:48who are going to be the change that we need in this moment.
06:51So this is one of the offices that we're going to do that organizing in.
06:55Welcome to the 4th Congressional District!
07:00Join me in bringing to the mic our next governor,
07:06the Attorney General, Aaron Ford, everybody!
07:13How y'all doing?
07:15How y'all doing?
07:17Hey, everybody!
07:18I am Aaron Ford.
07:19I'm your Attorney General, but I'm also your next governor.
07:24Before I say anything further though, I got to give it up to a man who is younger than I
07:28am,
07:29but has been a mentor to me my entire time in this state.
07:32He's a person who is unafraid, stands up, represents the entirety of this district,
07:37but beyond that, the entirety of this state.
07:40I'm so proud to call him a friend.
07:41Give it up for Congressman Stephen Horsley!
07:46Now look, he talked about this room.
07:49Talked about this room looking like Nevada.
07:52And I couldn't say it any better.
07:54It looks just like Nevada.
07:56And what I have said time and again is that you deserve representation
08:00that represents the entirety of the state of Nevada.
08:03Is that unreasonable?
08:05It's not unreasonable.
08:06In fact, I've said it before.
08:08You could have been here for three generations or for three days.
08:11If you live in Nevada, you're part of the Nevada family,
08:14and you deserve representation.
08:16You could be married with two and a half kids or a single parent with three kids.
08:20If you live in Nevada, you're part of the Nevada family,
08:23and you deserve to be represented.
08:24You could be black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American.
08:27It doesn't matter.
08:28If you live in Nevada, you're part of the Nevada family,
08:31and you deserve representation.
08:32You could be castrate.
08:33It doesn't matter.
08:33If you live in Nevada, you're part of the Nevada family.
08:36You could live in Las Vegas, Elko, Reno.
08:38It doesn't matter.
08:39If you live in Nevada, you're part of the Nevada family,
08:41and you deserve representation.
08:46Now, now, now, here's the problem.
08:49Ya tenemos un gobernador que no se cuida en total la Nevada familia.
08:55Nada más quiere cuidar por las corporaciones.
08:59Las personas que le dan dinero.
09:01Pero yo voy a representar la familia en total.
09:04¿Me entiendes, Mendez?
09:05Si es cierto, si es cierto.
09:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:08Look, the problem is we have a governor right now
09:10who doesn't represent the entire Nevada family.
09:12He represents the corporations and those who give him his money.
09:16He doesn't care about everybody.
09:17He alienates.
09:18He ostracizes.
09:19You know what else he does?
09:21He bows down.
09:22He capitulates.
09:24He kowtows.
09:25He kisses up to.
09:26He lies down to Donald Trump.
09:29He's afraid of Donald Trump.
09:31He's a doormat to Donald Trump.
09:33You deserve a fighter.
09:35Someone's gonna stand up, someone who is unafraid to do that,
09:38and I'm gonna be that governor.
09:43We are living in an affordability crisis that this Lombardo Trump economy has caused.
09:50You got a governor who lies down when Trump says he has a bill he calls beautiful.
09:56And I'm wondering how you call it beautiful when a hundred thousand Nevada is about to lose their health insurance.
10:01He has, he has lied down, he's laid down when Donald Trump tried to take away snap benefits during Thanksgiving.
10:08You remember that?
10:10The man went out to D.C. for a $5,000 play fundraiser to beg for Donald Trump's endorsement.
10:18And you know what I was doing?
10:20Suing to get $500,000.
10:25You know what's interesting though is that he calls my lawsuits unfortunate.
10:30What's unfortunate is that he doesn't recognize the importance of standing up for the rule of law.
10:36That's right.
10:36He doesn't understand standing up for the entire children about a family.
10:40He wants to lie down.
10:41I call him lying Lombardo.
10:43That's what I call him.
10:44By the way, he also lies a lie.
10:45That's a different conversation though.
10:47At the end of the day though, we have an opportunity for accountability day to come upon us on November
10:523rd.
10:53Accountability day, y'all.
10:54That's election day.
10:56That's the day when you get to show up and take your friends, your family, your neighbors to the polls
11:00and let him know he needs to look for a new job.
11:05Look y'all, they spent $13 million in this campaign so far.
11:13Lying, trying their best to lie Lombardo.
11:16Is that what you say?
11:17You call him lying Lombardo?
11:18That's what I heard of.
11:19They spent $13 million and the polls right now are tied.
11:25They haven't moved the polls.
11:27The polls are tied.
11:28Here's what we know.
11:29Here's what we know.
11:30The race is close.
11:32It's gonna be close.
11:33But we're gonna win.
11:35We're gonna win because we got people on our side.
11:39He might be worried about the corporations in this state.
11:42I'm worried about the core of this state, which are the people.
11:46So thank y'all so much.
11:47I want y'all to know that I'm gonna be a governor for the entire Virginia Nevada family.
11:52Now listen.
11:53We have a friend in the room with us right now who shows us what it's like to stand up.
12:00Who shows us what it's like to take on a bully.
12:04Who shows us what it's like to ensure that folks are taken care of and that we keep our eye
12:10on the prize.
12:10I am happy to be able to introduce the governor of the great state of California, Gavin Newsom everybody.
12:23Who has been?
12:23Oh.
12:26I forgot how much fun politics is.
12:30I mean, who said that people at home, you gotta join this energy and this power of people.
12:35This is amazing.
12:37It is great to be.
12:38First of all, thank you guys for being here.
12:40I'm serious.
12:41Thank you for distilling us with a sense of well-being.
12:44Thank you for being the antidote to all the cynicism, all the negativity, all the fear that is out there
12:50that marks so much of our conversation.
12:52Thank you guys for stepping up and stepping in and being there.
12:57Thank you, by the way, for being there, not just for Steve and Danielle and for Erin, but for being
13:02here for each other.
13:04Being here for Nevada.
13:06Being here for our country.
13:09Being here for the world we're trying to build.
13:12This has been hard.
13:14And it's been hard for a long time.
13:17You know, I don't think most of us haven't fully absorbed what you've all been through.
13:23What we've all been through together over the course of the last six, seven years.
13:27You know, social unrest and, you know, wars and pandemic.
13:34Trump coming down the escalator ten years ago.
13:40January 6th.
13:42Guy lost the election, tried to light democracy on fire.
13:45You know, in the spirit of what Stephen just said and the Attorney General just said, I mean,
13:51followed that up by calling the Secretary of State down in Georgia, demanding almost 12,000 votes.
13:58Is it a surprise that we're where we are today?
14:03Did it surprise anybody that this guy called the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott,
14:09saying he was quote-unquote entitled to five seats for mid-decade redistricting,
14:15to try to rig the election before even one vote was cast?
14:21Boo!
14:23Why did Trump do that?
14:25Because he knows he's going to lose this November if we do our job, if we turn out.
14:34You're the antidote to all of this.
14:37It's all about you. I mean it.
14:40And so, again, thank you.
14:42It's a way of just reinforcing my gratitude, my respect for your passion and action.
14:48Thank you for stepping up and stepping in.
14:50Thank you for being leaders.
14:51Thank you for being accountable to each other, for our community.
14:56And for the world, again, you know, that we celebrated this year,
15:01250th anniversary, the best of Roman Republic, the best of Greek democracy,
15:04co-equal branches of government, you know, popular sovereignty.
15:10The Attorney General mentioned the rule of law, not the rule of dawn.
15:16And I hope it's dawned on everybody that our politics has changed,
15:20which means we need to change.
15:23And that, as a consequence of that, we have to recognize what's at stake
15:30and put a stake in the ground with clarity and conviction.
15:34The majority, getting Speaker Jeffries back as Speaker of the House of Representatives,
15:41that comes through the fight.
15:42That is what this is all about.
15:44So, again, thank you for all that you've done,
15:48but most importantly what you'll be doing over the course of the next few months.
15:51Because that will be determinative.
15:53The Attorney General has made the point.
15:55$13 million already spent against him.
15:56Donald Trump already sent a missive saying he was going to arrest your Secretary of State
16:03if he didn't turn over all the voting rolls.
16:05You may have seen today, New York Times, four subpoenas against journalists.
16:11The Trump administration, Department of Justice, against journalists today
16:15because he didn't like the reporting on his Qatari airplane.
16:20That $400 million grip.
16:22By the way, it's not just $400 million.
16:25There was $930 plus million in the Pentagon budget.
16:29He was cutting Medicaid, 100,000 folks from slots here in Nevada,
16:34as he was putting close to a billion dollars for his private plane.
16:38And don't think for a second that plane doesn't go with him when he leaves.
16:41The Trump administration is a corruption story, period, full stop.
16:46The greatest grip we've ever seen in American history.
16:50That's what we're up against.
16:53All of us.
16:54But in the spirit of what the Attorney General said,
16:57I look around this room and I see the diversity, I see time of life, as he said,
17:01not just state of mind.
17:03You know, and I'm reminded, I come from California.
17:0627% of our state is foreign-born, majority-minority state.
17:11We practice pluralism.
17:13That's a word you don't hear.
17:14We celebrate our diversity.
17:16We don't tolerate our diversity.
17:18That's our strength.
17:19I'm sorry, J.D.
17:21I'm sorry, Rubio.
17:23That is our strength.
17:24That's what makes America great.
17:26That's what the founding fathers lived and died for.
17:29Our ability to live together and advance together across every conceivable difference.
17:33So it's a special place, California, yes, and Nevada.
17:38And so I'm proud to be here.
17:39We share the same lake.
17:41We share the same rivers.
17:43We share the same air.
17:47And yes, we share the same values.
17:49But they're not always present in our politics.
17:52And that's what this election's all about.
17:54We need to be repairers of that breach in the spirit of Isaiah.
17:59And so all of you, thank you, Nevada, for being here, for these three remarkable leaders.
18:05Thank you again for stepping up, stepping in.
18:07And let's win back the House of Representatives.
18:09Let's win the mayor's race.
18:11And let's take back the governor's office.
18:14Governor Ford sounds good to me.
18:17Thank you, guys.
18:18Thank you very much.
18:22Are you guys ready to win?
18:24Yes!
18:25Are you ready to organize to win?
18:29Well, we have a special presentation we would like to make to Governor Newsom.
18:34Oh, I know that.
18:35You are here in the historic West Side.
18:38You are here in the historic West Side.
18:41And this is a community of great history, great culture, great people.
18:45And we are so delighted to have you here opening our campaign headquarters to win this cycle.
18:53But we want to present to you this jersey.
18:58I'll take off my shirt if you want.
19:04I've been playing.
19:05I've been working out.
19:07I've been working out.
19:11I saw my staff out there about to jump over.
19:16You are now a proud member of the historic West Side 89106.
19:25Thank you for joining us today.
19:28West Side!
19:31West Side!
19:34Look at that.
19:36Look at that.
19:43So let's get out here.
19:45Let's organize.
19:47We're open right now.
19:49We can phone bank.
19:50we can doorknock, we can register, and most importantly, we're going to make this election
19:56too big to win!
19:59Too big to win!
