00:00Patty Pimblitt and Benoit Saint-Denis going head-to-head here.
00:03Really intriguing matchup.
00:05Oddsmakers have Benoit as a slight favorite here in this fight.
00:11But I'm always fascinated by, you'll see how things can change sometimes.
00:16You see this in college football, you know, where like a team didn't play,
00:20but somehow they fell in the rankings or they went up in the rankings.
00:23They got better or worse somehow without doing anything.
00:26And you see this in the UFC a lot, Tom, with the rankings, right?
00:30In which a guy doesn't, you know, do anything or fight or she doesn't,
00:33whatever, they go up or down.
00:34It's all kind of whatever all over the place.
00:35But my point with this is Patty Pimblitt, how things can change
00:40since he has fought last time, Tom, right?
00:43From leaving sort of with his head down to you got beat up by Justin Gaethje.
00:49You talked a lot.
00:50He messed you up.
00:53And, you know, kind of, you know, a lot of fighters,
00:56it's hard for them to rebuild themselves after
00:58when they sort of get to that sort of level.
01:00It's hard for their ego.
01:03And you saw, like, after the fight, he was depressed.
01:06And he said, you know what?
01:08He was better than I thought he was.
01:09And he beat me.
01:10And Gaethje's great.
01:12And then, like all fighters, you know, a couple of days later,
01:15well, I watched the fight.
01:16And you know what?
01:16I just think I might have gotten screwed, that type of thing.
01:20It's like one of those type of deals.
01:23But my point is here, Tom,
01:26Paddy Pimblitt's confidence has to be a lot higher now
01:28after he just saw Gaethje beat the crap out of Teporium, bro.
01:32Like, don't tell me that doesn't, you know what I mean?
01:33Like, it's just human nature.
01:35He'd be like, dude, you know, looking back on it,
01:37I hate these guys' shots.
01:38Like, I went through this.
01:40Like, I, you know, I can face this.
01:43And Pimblitt, one thing about him that people,
01:45I guess people do realize,
01:47but he's turned all that junk food, I guess, Tom, right?
01:50He used to, like, crush the burgers and the fish and chips and stuff.
01:53And he admitted, I love, you know, this guy was like, you know,
01:56Brits love that stuff, right?
01:58You know, the deep-fried Mars bars and stuff, Tom.
02:00Like, they're into the sweets and stuff.
02:04Paddy, like, admitted, remember after fights,
02:06I'm going to Kentucky Fried Chicken.
02:07I love American junk food.
02:10It's all muscle now.
02:11He's not big and fat.
02:12He's just big now, bro.
02:13He's a big dude for this weight class.
02:16He really is.
02:18Yeah, and he's a really good fighter.
02:20I mean, people take away his career based on, again, he's a talker.
02:26So anytime a guy is a talker.
02:28It's about to fit his antics.
02:29It's his antics.
02:30Yeah, people like to try to pick holes in the game.
02:34He had the Jared Gordon fight that was, you know,
02:36it was a pretty lackluster fight.
02:38Jared Gordon kind of, for the most part, just held him against the cage.
02:41You know, a lot of people thought he lost that fight.
02:43Going back, I've watched that fight a couple times, breaking down both of those fighters.
02:47And I can see why Paddy won.
02:49I mean, Paddy did do the better work.
02:53And it's mostly Jared holding him against the cage.
02:55But that was years ago, you know, and that was one of Paddy's worst performances.
02:59He's come out and he's done what he's supposed to do.
03:02He's run through guys like Bobby Green.
03:03He's run through guys like Michael Chandler.
03:05I mean, he was the first one that really made Michael Chandler look like garbage.
03:09Chandler was losing fights, but he was competitive with Poirier.
03:12He was competitive with Gaethje.
03:14You know, and then Paddy just came in and absolutely ran through him and made him look bad.
03:18And, you know, he's looked terrible since.
03:20Part of that Eddie Alvarez tree, sort of.
03:23I brought up Eddie earlier, right?
03:24Sort of same levels.
03:25Chandler Alvarez had the wars.
03:27Great fight.
03:28Right?
03:29Gaethje.
03:30So, like, go show guys where Paddy's level.
03:32He's right there with these guys.
03:34Like, he's right there with Gaethje almost.
03:36Like, you know what I'm saying?
03:37Yeah, and that fight with Gaethje, I mean, you know, you hear people talk about it.
03:42Like, Paddy got his ass kicked, but he was landing big shots.
03:45He was landing huge uppercuts.
03:47He was actually having a pretty good fight in that fight.
03:50He got hurt more than we've ever seen him get hurt.
03:52And, you know, Gaethje did his thing.
03:55But, you know, there was the eye pokes.
03:57There was a couple things that happened in that fight that kind of really turned the tide.
04:01But when it's all said and done, Paddy was there.
04:03We got to bring something up, Tom.
04:05Sorry, and I only bring it up because time always flies, these segments.
04:09We got to flip the script a little bit.
04:11St. Denis is a pretty good fighter himself.
04:14Absolutely.
04:15Yeah.
04:16You know what I mean?
04:16Like, this is really, like, he's a badass.
04:19I almost think this comes down to, like, heart.
04:22I don't know.
04:23Like, I hate to be that cliche, but, like, who can dig down deeper?
04:26Who wants it more?
04:27You know what I mean?
04:27Like, you're both right there.
04:29There's title shots in both of your futures.
04:32Like, the winner of this fight is in a very good spot.
04:35Let's be real.
04:37Especially, like, with Pimblit and Gaethje where he is now.
04:41And, like, St. Denis can say, dude, this guy just went with Gaethje.
04:44I just beat this guy.
04:46Right?
04:46Like, there's a lot on the line here for both these guys.
04:50Yeah, this is a huge fight for both guys.
04:53And, you know, there's a couple guys at the top of the division.
04:56I mean, you've got Armin Sarukian, who's always lurking.
05:00Yeah, but David hates him.
05:02Yeah, exactly.
05:03Exactly.
05:04He pulled out of a title fight.
05:05He's always kind of had â he's got drama going on all the time.
05:09So, you know, it's tough for him to get a title shot.
05:13Paddy's very marketable.
05:14People love BSD.
05:15If BSD wins, I mean, that's huge.
05:17I mean, that's huge.
05:18And this fight really is close.
05:20To me, it comes down to can BSD take Paddy down and hold him down and do good work on
05:26the ground,
05:27which it's interesting because Paddy is very good with submissions.
05:30And BSD is very good at getting guys down and holding them and beating them up.
05:34But he also does give up position.
05:36So, you know, Paddy, the sub is going to be there.
05:38BSD puts his neck in a lot of bad spots.
05:41So, there's opportunities here for Paddy to find a sub.
05:44But like you said, I mean, these guys are both really good.
05:47They're both gritty.
05:48They're both going to fight.
05:49You know, the ref is going to have to stop it.
05:51They're not going to quit.
05:52And I expect it to be close.
05:54But like I said last week, Paddy as the underdog, I have to roll with Paddy in this spot.
